  1. For the people who already had the surgery, did you have to get a urine test or blood test the day of your surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. It's the 8th of August so there's still time to fix it just in case. Your right though I probably shouldn't worry. It's dangerous for me to have access to my results before my doctor has a chance to tell me if there's actually a problem. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm really upset right now. My blood and urine sample came back I can see them online. And it looks like I maybe have a urinary tract infection or something because my lymphs are low and epithelial cells are high. It could of course be something else and I will be speaking to the doctor about it but has anyone got their surgery canceled due to UTI's Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I had an issue like that but my coordinator assured me that it just has to show steady weight gain not that you just recently got overweight and decided to get wls. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Some people say that I'm young and don't weigh enough to get the surgery but I'm doing it now to avoid ever being at that place and it's good that you did so too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Honestly if someone can't make time for you within a month it's because he doesn't care enough too. Your better than that you can find someone who has time to support you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. My coordinator called me when the insurance company notified her which seemed to be almost immediately. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to tell you weather or not it was approved. I would call again and say you'd like to know the status of your pre authorization. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. My surgery is Aug 8th too! I really want to get the fitbit scale, my cousin told me how great it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Oh boy were gonna be recovering together. I hope it's good because all my scales at home suck pretty bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Your doctor will most likely advise you to maintain your weight for six months. Insurance companies are often not helpful when telling you what you need so when you speak to your surgeons office they will give you what you need. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. August 8th Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I am also a student and I started in January and my surgery date is August 8th so if you need to do the 6 month diet you can expect 6-7 months if things are done in a timely matter. Some insurances require no diet or 3-4 months so you might finish faster.
  12. Personally i wasn't asked to get naked but I did have to take my shoes off.
  13. I decided to have the surgery after my mother got it and lost 100 pounds and kept it off for going on four years now. Most centers around me at least require you to attend a seminar before they make an appointment for you, it may be like that around you too. I don't personally have any of the weight related issues that you have but it very well may help them. It is a huge decision to make so you really need to think about it because it is a huge life change. My surgery is August 8 and I started my journey in January so you will have plenty time to think about it before you actually get the surgery.
  14. Don't worry it's coming soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Yes - and I am preparing myself for the worst, but hoping for the best. I do hope that because it's a Bariatric Center vs. a normal hospital, they are willing to help me. I realize that insurance qualifications are what they are, but keeping my fingers crossed! It's always best to have hope and a good coordinator on your side. I agree that a bariatric center is much better in terms of insurance approval because many times if your in a good place the coordinators are specially trained to obtain approvals because they want your money:). Also if your insurance has centers of excellence definitely go to them. It makes a difference! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Normally you can't appeal if it's an exclusion but many insurance reps are not knowledgeable in the matter. I called three times and every time I got a different answer one lady even saying it is completely not covered because it's "cosmetic". But low and behold I have been approved. It may be best to see a surgeon and speak with their insurance coordinator to see if it's actually excluded. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Many many people get approved after being denied first and usually peer to peer works very well in that case. I really hope you get approved. Let us know. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Normally under 40 with no comorbities will be denied but if you don't try you will never know and the doctors and coordinators may be able to help you through the hoops. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I am having my surgery August 8th and my birthday is 2 days after that so I told my fiancé that I wanted a Fitbit and the Fitbit scale to go with it for my birthday. They look like they are a great source of motivation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I did 6 visits in 5 months my first visit counted as 1 month and I was just approved no problem. Your coordinator should be able to let you know what your insurance requirements are though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I can't say for bcbs Texas because I have bcbs NY and everything is different but generally that is what you need and maybe a 2 or 5 year weight history as well. Also if your so close to 40 bmi I wouldn't recommend gaining the weight as it's counterproductive but wearing heavy cloths and some ankle weights on you because if you don't make it to 40 at least on the first consult and you don't have co morbidity you may be rejected. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. It goes by much faster than you think trust me. Good luck on your approval. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
