All of you are such an inspiration to us awaiting surgery...

I have met with him and I do like him, but you know how it is with surgery... I just am trying to find something bad too. I have read some posts about ports breaking, turning and so on... That somewhat worries me. Dr. Spivak has already approved me to have surgery, just waiting on insurance, which shouldn't be much longer.

Just wondering if any of you had him do your band and what you think? I am all for getting this done, but my mom has really scared me about it. She lost all of her weight the natural way, and thinks everyone else can do the same. 5'-10" heaviest- 365 now- 319 goal- 199

Sorry I don't have any suggestions. I do know that Dr. Spivak's office will work with you if you are a self pay. I don't know much about surgery in Mexico, but I personally wouldn't have it done there if it costs $15,000 here and is less than $8000 there??? But there may be other people that have had great experience with that.

Hey flowerpower... I am glad to see someone mention Dr. Spivak's name. I am going through the paperwork right now to hopefully be banded before the end of the year. I have great insurance so I am not expecting a delay. I have only met the Dr. once and he seems to be a great Dr. At the seminar he wasn't pushing anything, just informing us.
