I'm somewhat new here but have been reading about everyone's experiences for the last month and it seems like a great place to ask advice. So I thought I met the requirements of my insurance, bmi is 35.2 and I have had high blood pressure my whole life. I do take a bp med that seems to keep it under control. My insurance requires a bmi btwn 35-40 with one co-morbidity. They list medically refractory hypertension as one. I unfortunately got my first denial today saying my hypertension is controlled by one med and although I have sleep apnea it's only mild (they require severe). Has anyone been in a similar situation and gotten approved?? Of course I'm going to call my surgeons office Monday and they seem the type that will fight for me but I'm just worried that I'm going to get denied all together just because I finally found a high blood pressure med that kinda works and only has a few side effects. It really also sucks getting a denial letter on Friday...I guess I'm a little anxious lol! Thanks!!!

I just got cleared, waiting on the insurance approval but expecting a June date too!!! Hopefully I'll know within the month, it's tough- I see everyone getting cleared and getting April dates but apparently my surgeon is popular. I guess that's a good thing!!

I don't exactly have pcos (formally) but I had lots of hair on my chin. I opted for laser removal (on my legs too) and it was the best $$ I've ever spent!! I used to shave/pluck but felt like everyone could still see it. With laser you can't tell the hair was ever there!!

I haven't made the decision to have surgery just yet so the only person who knows I've had a consultation is my sister who had surgery last year (and is doing awesome btw). I don't think I would tell anyone outside my close circle of family BUT I just started dating this great guy in October, has anyone had this situation where you have a significant other who might be freaked out by telling them you're having this surgery? And did they take it well? I will also say I am not morbidly obese -I am slightly obese but with co-morbitities so it might be a surprise to him that I'm even considering it. Just looking to see if anyone else has been in this predicament. Thanks!!!!
