finally under 220! and crossing my legs!
Just happy and thankful today! Got on the scale and I am at 219! Have not been under 220 in yearsssss. I am three weeks out and still learning how to work with my sleeve and listen to it. I am also realizing how much I used to graze. Wow I find myself at my desk looking for a snack. NOT HUNGRY. I am trying to be mindful of that and get up-stretch my legs-get something to drink if I want-but leave the food alone. So amazing what habits can do to us. I am finally able to cross my legs. Amazing feeling. and I know this one will sound silly but I am able to fold my hands like I am praying with the fingers all entwined and folded down. I couldn't do that before-fingers were to chubby. This sleeve is saving my life. So Grateful. Happy Friday all.. peace out trouts.

Short hair for me. never before
Hi all. 15 days post op. a couple of days ago I had one of those moments where I just wanted a big change. Yes like this gastric sleeve isnt big enough. ha. I have always had hair down to my shoulders or longer. I have thick wavy hair. It is unruly. well I had it all cut off. I have never had short hair. because in my mind heavy people cant have short hair--or at least not me- I wanted to try and hide my big cheeks. and hide whatever else I could hide behind there. the other thing I am doing is looking now for clothes with color. I have so MUCH black in my closet. always the thought that the color black is slimming. no it is depressing. My husband would say to me*why do you always wear black? like you are going to a funeral?* I would give him the eye and say maybe I am!!! uh huh.. Johnny cash moment. so I thought I would post my elvis punk rocker hair do!! I have received a lot of nice compliments.. and trust me its so different for me! but thats what all this is about. Change!! for the better. Not sure if I will keep this hair--but for now I am enjoying it. Peace out trouts!!

Exercise? how soon?
Hey all I am 2 weeks post op. feeling pretty good. I was dancing yesterday to music in my kitchen while making halloween goodies for the neighbors (and for the first time in a LONG time I wasn't concerned about eating any of them. felt good!~) but anyways. two months before my surgery I joined jazzercise and loved it. I was going 4 days a week and loved it. The information I was given about exercising was kind of vague. I remember hearing 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. I certainly wont be doing the floor work which includes crunches but I would love to start moving again. I don't see my surgeon to check on the incisions until Nov 10th. Long story short how soon did you guys go back to exercising? I dont want to hurt myself but do feel like I want to move more. I go back to work this coming monday so who knows that alone might wear me out. I am an office manager but still sitting that long might wear me out. thanks for any help with this. love the support on here.

Kaiser Nor.Cal
@ I had dr. Baggs but Dr Im did all of my follow up check in's at the hospital I had some internal bleeding and had to stay 4 days so dr. Im checked in on me everyday there after surgery in richmond. I think dr. baggs was out or something? he just showed up the next morning and said hi I work with dr. baggs with his patients. and that was it he ordered all my post op stuff while I was in the hospital and even called one night to let me know my blood work was looking better and could go home the next day -he is a good dr. he makes sure you are ok and doesnt take any chances. they will treat you good at richmond my surgery was oct 19--. take a sleeping mask if the lights and noises bother you. that was the only thing I wish I had taken. its hard to rest in a hospital that is for sure! best of luck hun!!

itching and first compliment
I havent gone back to work yet. I was only going to take a week off but then I had some complications so I needed this extra week. hope to go back this coming monday nov 2. I am a little nervous. I work at a desk but even now sitting up or driving seems to wear me out easily. I was huffing and puffing just now bringing my laptop in to my bedroom. ha. so I dont want to push it. but it is getting easier to do a little bit more everyday. I did take some before pics. soon as i figure out how to post them I will. liquid seems to go down a bit easier now. I can take a little more in at a time. I dont get the dumping syndrome feeling. I get what feels like heart burn for a few minutes. I take that as hey no more. that is usually after about 2 tablespoons of mushy food. still not too hungry so am thankful. peace out!

itching and first compliment
I am 8 days post op and the itching is driving me crazy. ha. but I guess that is a good sign. probably shows that I am healing. A friend came over to bring me some soup. she didnt know what kind of surgery I had. I have just been telling people I had some scar tissue removed from past colon cancer. I have only told my husband. So she brought me some soup and some magazines. She told me wow you look really good-you look like you have lost some weight. yes about 10 lb now. it felt really good to hear that. I can feel it and see it in the mirror. I know it will be better when I can go back to exercising and moving more. still kind of sore. am able to eat a couple of teaspoons of food at a time. I dont have a lot of hunger so that is good. how long did the itching last for you guys? thanks all!!

One week out
Hi all. I am one week post op. I have lost 6lbs. but at first I gained 10lbs just from the surgery. It was unbelievable. But I also had a lot of fluids from the surgery-along with internal bleeding and two blood transfusions. I wasnt taking much in so I was surprised at the gain even though I had been warned. but things are good now. I can only take in a couple of teaspoons of food at a time like cream of chicken soup and cream of wheat. Not hungry but know I have to keep getting food into my body. Am on track with my vitamins. The incisions are bruised and so so sore. Hubby took off the first week. I thought I would be back at work this week but the set backs from the complications kind of made me slow down. getting my strength back and ready for this new beginning. I am on pudding-yogurt- with no fruit-cream of soups-for another week. Thought I would start posting on the Post Op side. yippie. So happy to be on this journey with so many cool people on here!!!

Judged at the hospital
Hi all. Had surgery this past monday 10/19. A couple of things I wasnt expecting. the girl checking me in for surgery said to me oh I had this surgery (gastric sleeve) two years ago. I looked at her and she was a pretty big girl but I mean for all I know she had a lot to lose and taking if off slowly. I just nodded. She then told me she had it with the same surgeon I was having today I said oh yes I really like him. She then tells me. she lost 85 lbs and then started eating bad and regained it all and then some. She took my copayment and said just dont be tempted or you will end up like me. wow didnt know what to say to that. Then one of my night nurses after my surgery said to me so you couldnt try anything else?? you just had to do this? (now this was after the surgery and I was in a room) I was like what?? I couldn't focus I was High on dalaudin. she said I just like to ask patients who do this why they didnt try other ways. I said you know this is what I wanted to do so that is why I did this.I also had a couple of nurses either putting on my compression stockings or helping get my gown off say wow you are not big at all.. what?? anyone else have weirdness from staff at the hospital?

Finally home after Mon Oct 19 surgery
I had surgery on Mon oct 19th was only supposed to spend one night. I had a lot of scar tissue the doc had to take out(from colon cancer 10 yrs ago) it seemed the surgery went well. but I had a fever in recovery-my blood pressure was way low and my heart rate was way too high. I tried to stand up and almost hit the floor if not for hubby.I was rushed back into OR because of internal bleeding. in the last three days have had 2 blood transfusions and both hands and arms so bruised up from needles and I.V.'s finally my hemoglobin numbers got up again so I was discharged today. now seems I can focus on the sleeve part. pretty bruised up on my stomach and hard to get in and out of bed but I continue to walk and take my pain med. I weighed in the day of surgery 229 and today I weight 240 omg so glad I was warned of this. all I have had over the 3 days all together is maybe a cup of broth-two runny jellos= and a non caffine tea. but I am still so glad I was able to have this surgery.I did wake up with shoulder and neck pain from the gas but has gone down a lot. ask for pain meds they will help. I am not hungry so far. but making sure I get in the liquids now that I am off saline. If I sip too fast it makes me burp and my throat hurt. ok off to night night.

Got the patch behind my ear. All packed got the copayment toothbrush deodorant and a bundle of nerves I'm so excited. Three hours and it's on. Heading out the door.

Leg soreness after surgery?
@@Dub thank you so much for answering my questions. my surgeon has been great. he ordered my nausea Patches already and meds for pain-other meds to coat my stomach carafate? and other pills for nausea after surgery. I like how they start on the nausea before you will even get it. I have to put the patch on that morning before I go to the hospital. I have 4 and they last 72 hrs I believe. Thank you for calming my fears of needles. I have had a few surgeries as well. some nurses are great and numb up the site when they see I am crying like a little bleeep ha. thank you so much it is so nice to hear from someone that all of this is still so fresh. 3 more days!!!
