  1. I am excited for you!! I had my last appt on Sept 1st and set date for 17th. I am excited to feel better and more energy! Good luck!
  2. Thanks for the support - I guess I am not a very independent person - or at least I haven't been for the last 18 years of my life! This seems like very scary decision and process to do alone. I do need to join some face to face support groups - and of course use this amazing site as a resource. Thanks!
  3. Until recently, I had been in an 18 year relationship, married for 10 of them. Sadly, part of the reason the marriage ended was my huge weight gain. I've read a lot of posts about amazing and supportive partners/spouses and I wonder what it is like to go through this alone. I do have close friends but it's just not the same and most of them live other places. Where did you get your support? Does it feel lonely? I have to admit one of the big reasons I'm doing this surgery is so I can find a partner again. (Where I live in NYC no one would touch me with a 10 foot pole (or anyone for that matter, unless they are a size 6 (?) or below!)) Anyway just looking for inspiration from some others!
  4. Thank you all! I realize that at the bottom of all this, I'm scared. Scared of what will be there when the food isn't- having to feel the feelings. Give me strength because I just ate my last "free" meal tonight!!
  5. Oh Cookies and chocolate, pastries and candy. It is time we parted ways. I have fond memories of you melting on my tongue and and crunching as I chewed down on you. You swept me away from the tumult of my daily life. You were there for me when others were not. You have always been my safety net. But this long relationship, a co-dependent one a best, has destroyed me. Destroyed my confidence, my love of life, my love of myself. Tomorrow, when I start my liquid diet, I say goodbye to you. And it is with a heavy, heavy, heart. I fear that there will be nothing to replace you, to fill the void you have filled for me all these years. But it is time, dear friends, salty and sweet, gooey and crunchy, that I say goodbye to you and start on my journey to a new and better life.
  6. I am Sept 17th. I start the liquid diet tomorrow and I'm freaking out - it just seems impossible. I will miss the food!
