  1. @@IMS1985 good luck! Don't be nervous I'm sure everything will go great! Let me know how it goes!
  2. Phew ok thanks so much! I'll definitely ask him on Tuesday just to be sure! I don't have any comorbidities so my BMI has to be over 40. Those diseases run in my family though and at the rate that I'm going I I know that I will eventually get them too but I don't want to just sit around and wait to get them!
  3. I just started my journey and meet my surgeon next Tuesday (3/10) I know that I'm going to have a 6 month supervised diet for my insurance. My BMI is 43 and I'm so scared that if I lose too much weight or gain during those 6 months that insurance will not cover surgery! Has this happened to anyone or am I just freaking out for no reason? I just don't want anything to happen to prevent me from getting surgery!
  4. For me it was exactly the same as @@Nicole Cloud .. my dad is very against me getting surgery
  5. @@Aimee1961 yeah it really sucks everyone else that I have told (my mom and my boyfriend) are both really nervous but they are behind me 100% my dad is the only one that reacted that way. He hasn't said anything to me on the subject again but my mom says that he mentions it to her and he seems to be coming around. I mean I know that he's just scared and that's why he reacted how he did but it was still hard on me. I haven't let it change my mind or anything. I'm continuing as I planned. My very first appointment is in 2 weeks and I can't wait to meet my surgeon and get this process going! I hope your mom eventually get a behind you. I'm sure she will when she sees your success! Good luck with everything!
  6. I didn't so much need his approval I just didn't want to do this behind his back. I still live at home with my parents so I wouldn't feel right keeping it from them. I'm definitely not going to let him stop me from doing this though! Like you said I'm doing this so that I become healthier and happier!
  7. I'm at that point right now! I'm soo anxious I just want to get the surgery done tomorrow already! I'm sure he'll be proud of me after I lose weight and keep it off
  8. If it's against what he thinks is right then yes this is how he reacts. He's been friendlier to me lately but we haven't touched on the subject anymore. He asks my mom if I still want to have wls and he alternates between saying I need to do something about my weight to saying I shouldn't do it. I know he's really scared..it's normal to be. Thank you for the support!
  9. You are right. Thank you for your support. I'm going to keep on track and do what I feel is right for me and he will see when I achieve my goal. Best of luck to you as well!
  10. Wannabthinsoon Oh I know that I've done my research he just doesn't want to hear it. All he heard was "surgery" and he was against it!
  11. Thank you all so much for the much needed support! @@wannaBthinsoon yes I am an adult. I'm 27 years old however, I am still living at home with my parents. He does want me to be healthy but he wants me to do it the "regular" way. I do understand that he is scared and nervous and maybe that is why he is acting like this but I've tried so many other diets with little success and then regain the weight back. I hope he comes around because I'm not changing my mind! It's just added stress knowing he's not supporting my decision
  12. I have decided that I want to get the sleeve. I have done a lot of research and went to the seminar and this is the right choice for me. I have my first consultation on March 10th. However, I just told my dad about my decision and he is extremely against it. He yelled and told me to just lose weight the regular way. I am so upset that he reacted this way, I just wanted his support. I still want to go this route but he is not at all on board and I fear he's going to be mad and distant with me. It also puts more pressure on me because if I still don't lose weight with the sleeve then he's going to say told you so and never let me live it down! All I can do is cry because I want this so badly
