What is your max carbs per day?
My nut has us on absolutely no carbs for a year! Except what comes in 1/2 cup of plain oatmeal which is 27grams or 1gram of sugar. We can also have a banana or apple which is about 27 so my guess is 60g max

Ugh! I'm in the "What If" Stage... Grrr
Stephanie Salsera Perrott replied to Stephanie Salsera Perrott's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery StoryWhat if I'm in pain for months post-op - For the great majority, this doesn't happen. For some, it can. My daughter is one of the unlucky ones. But even with all this pain and nausea, I think she did the right thing. Continued unchecked, her health would have continued to go downhill. As others are saying, be positive! I'm saying even if that happens you will cope and move forward. I think it's important for people to go into this knowing all the risks. You can't possibly predict everything that might happen. But what you can predict is "I WILL make it through this!"What if I'm in a loophole and my addiction comes creeping back in and I don't lose weight- Yep, that could happen too but you'd have to work pretty hard at not losing anything. Don't drink sugared drinks, eat small, healthy meals, don't graze and you're golden. Find a support group or a good therapist to help you get to the bottom of your addiction. Fix the cause along with the sleeve and you should be healthy, mind body and soul! One thing my daughter is facing, food used to be comfort. She has to relearn everything and find other healthy ways to get comfort. (I suggest puppies! LOL kidding.)What if I feel empty and scared- I may venture to ask, do you feel empty and scared now? Do you fill that emptiness with comfort food? Prepare yourself now by getting a healthy hobby like Yoga or cycling or swimming laps. Or even leisurely swims in the pool. Treat yourself other ways like...buying new clothes when you're down a few sizes. Also, the therapist thing might come in handy here too. Bottom line. This isn't a magic wand, it's a tool to help you succeed where you may have had many failures before. You can do this! appreciate it xoxo

How do you decide it is time to have VSG
My mom brought me to my first weight watchers meeting at 12 years old in Toronto, CA. I remember having a sleepover a few days after and eating carrot sticks while the other girls ate Cookies. I’ve lost 70-80lbs at least 3 or 4 times on weight watchers throughout my adult life. 3 years ago and about 60lbs lighter I had a massive panic attack which put me into constant anxiety for about a month straight. Couldn’t eat and didn’t want to leave the house. Once I conquered my anxiety (through treatment and therapy) I swore I would never beat myself up over eating so I didn’t. Since then I’ve gained 70lbs. I’m a happy person and except for a few skin issues pretty much healthy but I’m back in my “fat cocoon”. A cocoon that although comforting and safe is keeping me from all the things I could do, I could be. There is a saying in Overeaters Anonymous that says: “I came for the vanity and stayed for the sanity”. I’d like to be sane when it comes to food. I’d like to be at a weight that allows me to do the things I’d like to do and not be obsessed with the next meal. Oct 2014 found out my insurance would cover my surgery. Had to do 6 months supervised diet. Stressed myself for 6 months about not losing weight, if the ins would approve etc. Submitted my paperwork in March and was approved in 48hrs. I hugged my coworkers I was so excited. Surgery Date: 5/21/2015. The beginning of a new chapter!

What if I'm in pain for months post-op What if I find a loop hole and my addiction comes creeping in and I don't lose anything. What if I feel empty and scared. Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears. ~ Les Brown Surgery date: 5/21/15

Carbs
The NUT suggested porition The Nut suggested eating your protein first (say 3oz-4oz chicken) then have your carbs. You may find you only have room for a bite?? You've lost 98lbs!!!! Congrats. There are so many theories as to what is the right thing to do, avoid it all together, portion control etc.... Only you can solve that answer. Good luck.

Non-Food Relaxing Actitives
I'm curious about "relaxing" activities. Things you can do for example in the evening after you've exercised and had dinner. I'm thinking something with my hands might be good? Here are some ideas I've come up with: Jewelry Making Scrap Booking Facial Pedicure Knitting Phone games Warm Bath Cleaning out drawers mini projects like repainting a side table calling friends sewing Any ideas??

Submitting to UHC wish me luck!
Today is my final weigh in at surgery center and all my paperwork should be submitting to UHC today or tomorrow. Wish me luck!!! First step after 6 month roller coaster.

Why is it important to eat after dinner
We're here to support each other during a surgery that is unknown and scary not to judge what each other is eating. This is a positive board not a food debate board. Now that I got that out of the way I would dare to say a HUGE % of us on here have lost large amounts of weight previously and already know what to eat and drink. Cheers everyone.

Pre-Op Liquid Diet -- SO hungry!
I thought if a dr required liquid diet it would be a few days not two weeks. What's up with that??/
