  1. I'd like to suggest you check out a website called "dlife". It is a website for diabetics but part of it has receipes with lots of info on carbs, Proteins, etc. Receipes can be sorted by how many carbs you want to consume. (everything from 'carb free' to 'carb safe') They have lots of suggestions for subsituting high carb items. I've been using it to help me in my 3 month supervised diet plan.
  2. I'm with Aetna and they don't require you to lose weight but you can't have any net gain at the end of 3 months. They also don't require I see the NUT more than once. So my supervised diet is with my PCP. Personally I like that better because she knows me and I feel very comfortable with her.
  3. I have an appointment to see Dr. Frank Veninga on August 14th. Heard lots of good stuff about him. Both Dr. Veninga and Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton are in network for me. ( I have Aetna HMO). As long as I stay "in network", my insurance will pay for the surgery 100%. (if I have to stay overnight in hospital; if it is outpatient, I'd have to pay $40). i've wanted to do this for a long time but never could afford it. Then I was laid off from my job. Through a friend, I got a referral about a job opening. A week after I was laid off, I had a new job. This new job has this wonderful insurance.
  4. CDADAMS: Yes, I'm in the DFW area. In Flower Mound, to be specific.
  5. I'm a newbie too! My doctor appointment is for August 14th. Aetna requires a 3 month supervised plan, a pscyh eval and a nutrition eval. I've started the diet and just had the psych eval today (passed!). I'm pretty sure I want to have the sleeve done. I'm looking for friends I can lean on too.
