  1. Hi everyone! I am waiting to schedule my appointments with the surgeons office. They won't schedule any appointments until I get, complete, and return the medical packet they mailed me. I am a bit confused about one aspect though. My insurance requires 90 days of medically supervised diet and exercise. The office said it will take 6 months before my procedure can be scheduled. Why would the office want an extra 3 months versus my insurance?
  2. Call Aetna first thing tomorrow and discuss these charges. The charges are called "runaway charges" and should be covered and paid as in network even if the provider isn't in network with your plan. All you should have to do is explain you had no control over who did the anesthesia at an in network facility. It should only take one call to straighten it out. Please feel free to message me if you have any more questions. I spent many years as a billing manager for a private medical practice and might as well put my knowledge to good use!
  3. I normally have very potent odor if I don't use a strong enough deodorant. I have tried many brands and the one that is always my go to is Lady Mitchum clear gel. That stuff is the best I have tried and I have tried almost everything on the market!
  4. We got married at the courthouse 15 years ago and I have never regretted the decision. We gave everyone 2 weeks notice and about 20 members of our family showed up. We went to a local restaurant for dinner afterwards and had wedding cake for dessert. I still wore the white dress (just a simple dress), he wore a suit, I still had a bouquet. It was perfect for us because I am a very introverted person and do not like being the center of attention at all! We took the money we saved by having a small wedding and had a beautiful 2 week honeymoon in Cozumel, MX at an all inclusive resort. We had so much fun and it was perfect for us. My mom and his mom both had major melt downs because we didn't do a big family wedding and formal reception but they didn't realize how uncomfortable I would have been. We stuck to our guns and have never regretted our decision. You have to do what makes you happy ad fits your needs and nobody else's. we were 21/22 when we got married so it was really hard to stick to our position and go against our parents, but it worked out in the end. We have now been happily married for over 15 years and have 2 wonderful sons.
  5. I am afraid or what will happen to my boobs once I start dropping weight post op. I am a 40H now. I may have to forgo surgery to remove the extra skin and instead pay to have my boobs put back up where they belong! I have always been busty and even in high school I wore a DD+.
  6. I gave it the old college try and it was a no go! I spoke with someone in the authorization department, customer service, and someone from HR at my husband's employer. Everyone confirmed bariatric surgery is only covered at a Cigna designated center of excellence no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It was worth the try and I tried a few different avenues to make sure the information was accurate. I worked as a medical billing manager for quite a few years and I know Cigna customer service reps aren't known for being the most knowledgeable.
  7. Springbrook here! It is a itty bitty little town between Hayward and Spooner. Where is everyone having their procedures done at? I am planning on having mine done at Aspirus in Wausau, WI.
  8. Hello! I have been researching my insurance coverage of bariatric surgery and Cigna will only cover the procedure at one of their (Cigna's) designated Center of Excellence for Bariatric surgery. I found the closest one which is about 2.5 hours each way. I contacted them and I have to have all appointments with their clinic as far as dietician, psych, etc for a total of 5-7 visits prior to surgery plus the post surgical appointments. I just have to say that sucks big time! I have chronic back pain from an injury over 10 years ago when I was in my early 20's and now also have nerve roots impinged. Driving is sheer torture over 20 minutes, and the hubby cannot take that many days off work just to shuttle me back and forth. Besides the fact he is the only one working and we can not do without his income. Grrr, Sorry, I just had to vent my frustration. Don't get me wrong, I will find a way to make it work because I need to have this surgery in order to get my pain down. I just wish it didn't have to be so far away for that many appointments.
  9. Hello! This is my first post, but I have been lurking and reading for a few days now and have learned so much. I have to say thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and information. I have been researching my insurance coverage policies for WLS and lining up everything to meet their requirements. One of the requirements is the surgery must be performed at a Cigna designated Center for Excellence in Bariatric Surgery. The closest ones are in Wausau, WI and Marshfield, WI. I live in far northwestern Wisconsin and either is 2.5 hours away. I hope somebody has been to Aspirus in Wausau and would be willing to share their experience. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
