I had surgery here in the states June 17th. My daughter will be having her surgery in July in Mexico. I will follow up with my family dr and see if he is willing to follow stats and other requirements for her as well. If he says no, I find another dr for all of us! I see him on the 1st of July. If anything the urgent cares around here can at least order blood panels and to general follow through.

June 2014 Dates!?
On my last day of stage 1. For me that meant liquids only. So water (of course), Popsicles, jello, broth, and towards the end of that week I added protein drinks. Won't lie, I am starved!

Drain or no drain?
So If I have come to understand this procedure, it appears some doc have drains and some do not. Don't understand why or how that decision is made, but guess not all that vital to our recovery or all would do it. Leak tests appear to be random across the board also. Leak tests during surgery and the day after surgery appears to be fairly normal, but any leak testing after that is minimal from what I am understanding here. I would expect leak testing is so etching that is warranted later only if problems appear to exist.

June 2014 Dates!?
I am making steady progress also. At the age of 60 I do not expect to keep up with the younger crowd and know that my weight loss will be slower. That's ok. Steady as she goes!!! HW 226. SW 220 . CW. 212. Surgery date 6-17-14

Drain or no drain?
Am curious. I see a lot of posts thAt mention their drain tubes being removed, etc. I never had a drain tube that I am aware of. Is this just a choice of method for each dr.

ALL JUNE AND JULY TIJUANA, JUAREZ, MEXICALI, MEXICO SLEEVERS PLEASE POST HERE
I had my surgery on the 17th of June here in the US, but since my daughters insurance was denied, she will have to self pay... Thus the route through Mexico. I have been very appreciative of the candid feedback from this group who have already had first hand experiences with the surgeons in Mexico. Honestly, it is a very big decision and all information available should be reviewed before the decision is made. The fluffery on the various bariactric web sites can be a nice read, but actual experiences from all of you is what I believe to be the truth in all of it! So thank you for responding to these posts! For now we have looked strangely at Aceves and Pompa. I am curious if anyone has specific feedback on the facilities, care, etc on either of theses drs. Most importantly, did they perform as promised.... Was the facilities up to date and clean, was staff attentive, and was dr everything you had hoped for in expertise? I am probably more cautious here because it is my daughter I am sending down. She is everything in my life, and if can't imagine life without her. I want the best for her obviously and do not want to set her up with a dr who plays any bait and switch games. I really do appreciate any feedback you all can give me. We are looking for a July date, so we must make our final decision. this week! She is very unhappy in her body and I am so looking forward to seeing her gorgeous smile again once she is on the other side of this journey.

June 2014 Dates!?
The first three days after surgery I was very tired. In fact the 3 rd day I slept much of the day. Then I turned the corner on my recovery and I am back to my normal self, like I never had the surgery. Just going about my activities like normal. Love it!

June 2014 Sleevers Check In!
I have suffered from to things that I did not expect. One .... Hiccups. Two.... Headaches. I never did much caffeine so can't blame on that. Hiccups are letting up since I am post op day 4. But the headaches continue... I believe is is because I am used to sleeping on my tummy and now am forced to sleep on my back. Last night was a bit better. I was able to sleep more on my side instead of my back. Did not wake up with a headache. I am hopeful the headaches will not be a common problem for me. We are very limited in what medicine we can take to alleviate them. Oh and number three..... I am starved!!! Still trying to cope with liquids but had to add protein drinks to get me past the hunger. OMG will those refried beans and oatmeal and cottage cheese taste good when my time comes to move to stage 2.

VGS post op 2 weeks
We scheduled my daughter's sleeve surgery with dr Aceves on July 22nd. I had my sleeve done here in Washington state on the 17th of June. It will be interesting to compare!

Ok this is bugging me
I have also read in other threads that dr Lopez does a bait and switch on hospitals. Promises a shiny new hospital and when you get there they suddenly have to change to a hospital much older and not up to date. At least it happened like this to two of our pals that were sleeved this month. I have removed this dr entirely from my list!

Food comercials!

Any June 16th Sleevers Out There?
it is so helpful to know when you are experiencing a feeling or symptom, some one else out there is having the same symptom or feeling. Yup, I love knowing I am normal! :-). Thanks for the idea of oatmeal. That sounds wonderful!

June 2014 Sleevers Check In!
Mmmmmmmm.. Retried Beans, and other foods like cottage cheese, applesauce and yogurt --- When is this ok to introduce in my diet. My surgery was Tuesday. I am working with only Water, broth, Popsicles and Jello and Protein Drinks at the moment. I would like to progress to the next level but do not want to do it too soon and jeopardize my sleeve.

Food comercials!
Ever noticed before how many commercials run each day advertising food. Argggghhhhh. I know I will be faced with daily decisions on how to handle my food cravings, and I know the WLS is a tool to help me with that, but if anyone thinks this will be easy is dead wrong. HA!

Any June 16th Sleevers Out There?
My surgery was also on June 17th. I was on pain meds in the hospital and I continued taking until Thursday afternoon. I was also on zofran for the nausea. I was pretty miserable with those symptoms, but again they subsided by Thursday afternoon and I ceased taking the zofran. So far I am taking in water with no problems, except thinking I will never see the bottom of my jug. 50oz is a lot of water! Broth and Popsicles go down real easy. I just started drinking protein drinks, because unlike others I was feeling hungry today. The protein drinks did help me with that issue. No real pain, no real nausea, and no gas pain. All in all I think I am doing ok. I will enjoy my first bites of food though when I reach that mile marker.
