  1. Hi, I just had that conversation with my personal trainer. She had bypass done years ago and had skin to remove. Her surgeon was able to get it approved because of the rash. So if you have to go that route, definitely try! Good luck!
  2. Hey All! I just wanted to add a couple of comments since I work in insurance. Don't be discouraged if someone said that they they were denied for a specific insurance company. The decision on whether or not your plan will cover this is based in what type of prescription plan that you have. Most people have insurance through their employer. If you work for a large company, chances are that the approval or denial is based on how your company decided to cover it. I love that this thread was started. I sure hope that my plan covers it! I don't have all the answers, but I know a lot about insurance. Happy to help with any questions!
  3. We are in the exact same boat! I made all of the appts today. sleep study this week. Sleep study results on 4/15. Dietitian appt on 4/7. I have the psych eval tomorrow. Do you have any idea when your surgery will be scheduled for? It sounds like you are a couple weeks ahead of me in the process. I would love to get together with you to chat if you are open to it. I live in Arlington Heights. Let me know if you are interested. Good luck with your appts!
  4. @@badabing, not yet. But perhaps I will get it tomorrow when I go in for my psych consult. Are you new to the process too?
  5. Tomorrow starts all of my appointments. Psych evaluation, sleep study, dietitian, pulmonologist......So many appointment. I will find out tomorrow what the rest of my next steps are....Guessing more appts. Does anyone have a checklist that I can follow?
  6. I would be open to that. I am just starting my journey. So I welcome any feedback!
  7. Love to see the Chicago support! Thanks for starting this. I have my first consult on Tuesday with my surgeon. I live in Arlington Heights. I am really hoping that I can get the sleeve early this summer. We will see!
  8. My journey is officially starting this week. I am having my first consult with my surgeon on Tuesday. I am trying to figure this whole thing out. I am nervous about this approval process. My BMI is 60. So according to my insurance (BCBSMI), the 6 month waiting period is waived. But there is a small part of me that doesn't quite believe that. I know that the surgery is covered by my insurance. But I really don't want to have to wait 6 months. I am really hoping that I can get this scheduled for early summer. Am I being naive, I wonder? My prep -- I have been working out with a personal trainer and meeting with a nutritionist over the past month. Even as hard as I have been working, I have only lost 2 lbs. So frustrating. I really need this surgery. I want to be able to run with my husband. I want to have my feet not hurt at the end of the day. I want to be healthy enough to get pregnant. I want to lose this weight and feel healthy. I have never wanted anything more badly in my entire life. Wish me luck. And if you have any tips for a newbie, please share. Thanks!
