  1. I agree with the puréed diet triggering the full factor and your physical/visual satisfaction. It is real - tangible food you are blending. I am 10 days post-op and gradually adding pureed items into my diet this week. I had chicken breast with honey- mustard tonight. It was heavenly!
  2. I get tired of the average protein shakes. I bought Ensure 'juices' - they have protein - around 10 gms I think. Not much but they are so much lighter to swallow.
  3. Good luck tomorrow! I remember that morning was so surreal prepping for the surgery at the hospital. I kept thinking... Is this really happening? I started my process in March and on Nov 6th had my surgery. I send you prayers for a successful surgery and for a quick recovery!
  4. I'm in a suburb of Minneapolis. We had our first snowfall one week ago and I was so glad to be home that week. I am home again this week - temps are still in the teens. It stinks because I don't want to go outside to walk. May have to go to Mall of America to do 3+ miles of walking - and a little shopping!!
  5. Thanks! My incisions are all healed. I just miss soaking in the tub... It is so cold here in MN!
  6. How soon after surgery can I take a soaking bath?
  7. Hey Molly! I plan to attend the support group next Tuesday. Maybe I'll see you there.
  8. I was sleeved on 11/06/14 and (just like you) I lost more on my pre-op diet than I did after my first week out. My one month appt is December 5th and I know I will see the scale results then. I need to follow the full liquid diet for 2 weeks and then puréed foods. Let's keep in contact to cheer each other on!!
  9. One cup of strong coffee and within 20-30 minutes, I am clean as a whistle!
  10. Three days before surgery. I am a bundle of nerves. More so about work and getting everything handed off before I leave. I need to get my bag packed for the hospital. I have the basics but wondering if there are any 'special items' that anyone can recommend I pack. I have a two night stay planned. My husband can always pick up anything I may have missed. Breathe. Exhale.
  11. Hey Darcie46! My surgery date is November 6th at Methodist Hospital in St Louis Park. Where is your surgery?
  12. Just finished my pre-op appt, blood work and EKG. This is my last check box of medical to-do's before I have surgery on 11/6/14. My pre-op diet is ok so far. Protein shakes, iced tea, water and soup for another week. Hoping to lose some lbs during this period. See y'all on the 15th. Linda and I will be drooling over your real food but we know it will temporary and so worth it! - Lori
  13. Our next Twin Cities B-Pal monthly get together is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th at 10am at the Perkins in Fridley on 7520 University Ave in Fridley. Linda will be 3 weeks post-op and I will be 9 days post-op. We'll have all kinds of stuff to talk about!!
  14. Yes, I would like to participate in a private FB page as well. We can share photos from our November surgery.
  15. Chip and Bridget - do either of you have a surgery date?
  16. Love the candy and rainbows... I start my pre-op diet on Monday. I heard that's the hardest part. I think the first two weeks will be difficult adjusting my habits. Best of luck!
  17. Bravo! Thank you for sharing your story. My surgery is scheduled for 11-6-14 and I look forward to my success story next November!
  18. Angierue - most doctors expect you to do a liquid or some kind - 10-20 days pre-op. This diet is set in place in order to shrink your liver and mentally and physically prepare you for the surgery and your journey afterwards. My pre-op diet is 10 days (which means Protein shakes and full liquids - no sugars or fruit).
  19. I started my journey on 2/12/14. After completing all my BCBS requirements on 9/25/14, I was officially approved on 10/14/14. Yesterday I met with my surgeon, today was my ultrasound and nutritionist appointment. On 10/27, I start my pre-op liquid diet and 10/28, I have my pre-op physical. My surgery is November 6th at Methodist Hospital in St Louis Park, MN. I am truly astonished at how smoothly this process has been managed. I surely hope my surgery and follow care goes the same. Amazed, excited and a bit nervous!
  20. Thank God. It will be tough when we still have our current tummy. I am planning to take pictures, weigh and measure myself before the liquid diet and again before surgery. Then do the same every month afterwards. I will be journaling in adding photos and measurements in a scrapbook. It will be nice to look back at my progress.
  21. Angierue - I start my pre-op diet on Monday and the following Saturday is my birthday. I am already planning my one cheat day for the occasion. However, it will include broiled fish and vegetables with water. I figured I can still enjoy my birthday without going over board.
  22. My surgery date is scheduled on 11/6 and my pre-op liquid diet starts on Monday. This is getting real now.
  23. I started my journey on 2/12/14. After completing all my BCBS requirements on 9/25/14, I was officially approved on 10/14/14. Today 10/20, I met with my surgeon, tomorrow is my ultrasound and nutritionist appointment.
  24. I received a call yesterday (10/14) from my clinic with the great news - I have been approved for gastric sleeve. I started this process in mid-Feb 2014. To say the least, I was completely relieved and extremely happy to have BCBS of MN approve me. I meet with my surgeon on Monday 10/20 and will get my surgery date at that time. I meet with my NUT on Tuesday 10/21 to review my pre- and post-op diet plans. All that's left then is my pre-op physical and blood work. Can't wait to get my surgery date. Then everything can fall into place with my medical leave paperwork, cleaning out my cupboards, shopping for the new me, making homemade broth, etc. I am pumped! My husband is going to do the 10-day pre-op diet with me for support. I'll give him about 2-3 days before he caves. I love him for offering. So happy!!
