  1. I am not sure how long you have to be on a liquid diet or what the restrictions are for you. My pre op liquid diet was only 4 days and I had no calorie restrictions-- just had to be no sugar and low fat. The first 2 days were tough-- but I kep reminding myself that I needed to follow my doctor's instructions to make sure things went well for me. I was sleeved on Monday and it went great-- I am glad I followed the instructions. It is HARD-- and can be frustrating--- but nothing worth having comes easily. Hang in there!
  2. I was sleeved on Jan 27th. Today is the best I have felt so far. Much less sore, more energy, etc. I still have to be careful moving around, but each day is a little better. Bored out of my MIND because I am off of work until Monday. Cannot WAIT to get back to work!
  3. Hello there! So I was sleeved on Monday. I had a rather large hernia repaired, too. I came home from the hospital last night. I was pretty miserable when I woke up from the surgery- mostly because I felt a lot of pressure at my chest-- made it feel like I couldn't breathe-- but it passed in about 30 mins or so. The treatment team at the hospital was just WONDERFUL. Oh my word-- so patient and kind. I have not had any problem keeping down fluids-- just have to take little sips and take things slowly. About every 60 mins I get up and walk around the downstairs of my house for about 5 mins. My legs and hands are really swollen with Fluid (ugh). My belly is sore at the incision cites, but not too bad. I keep experiencing this very uncomfortable feeling-- I feel like I need to burp, and instead of burping, the air bubble travels back down my chest..... WTH is that and how do I make it stop??!! I had my first Protein shake this morning. Only 2 more and I am done with my protein requirements for the day (I got Isopure because it is protein dense-- I can get 29g of protein in a 6oz shake if I make it with milk). So far, so good! Have to get back to sipping my Water.... have a good day, all.
  4. Indigo-- Thanks so much for your words of advice and encouragement. I am hoping right along with you that this is the last diet EVER-- and that all of the changes I make with my "new" stomach will truly be a part of this new life. People often say "don't say DIET-- it is a LIFESTYLE change"-- well the problem for me is the changes I made were always someone else's lifestyle! Not mine! So, this time around I am going to find ways to eat that keep me feeling good and that I know my body likes so that I can do this for life.
  5. Hello! i have "lurked" here on and off for months.... tomorrow is the big day. I am freaking just a smidge....I HATE nausea. I do not care as much about being in pain (although I would prefer not to be) but I just hate feeling sick to my stomach and/or throwing up..... ok... so I have my list of things I am taking with me....I have the things I need to adhere to my NUTs guidelines when I get home... all there is to do now is drink my chicken broth and wait.... (as an aside, I only had to do a 4 day liquid diet and I have not found it to be very taxing-- I am a "professional dieter" and I have been on WAY harder diets for far longer than this ).
