  1. Wondering if there is a group of those who were above 300-350 when they had their sleeve done. It seems that the majority of the people I have encountered so far, were under 300 when they had their surgery, and while I'm sure their experience is helpful, I am really interested in the experiences of those closer to my own weight as it seems like they (the few that I have found here) have lost a bit faster than those under 300. Which totally makes since, as the larger you are, the more energy it takes to move that mass which in turn means calories burned, which means a greater loss... or something like that. And, I do realize everyone looses at a different rate; it seems that there are a lot of similarities to losses. Man, that last sentence is so 'stalkerish'.... why yes, I'm stalking your stats. No judgment, please understand, I'm just trying to make an informed decision. The quicker I am able to lose weight during the first part of the loss, I guess the, HoneyMoon Phase, the more encouraged I will be to take the plunge in the first place. Does that make sense? Knowing that I have my first appointment with my surgeon this week, which also means that I will be given my diet plan, and scheduled for all the other post-op appointments, the head-hunger is out of control. And, the only person who knows I'm considering this is a couple of friends that have hand wls and my mom. Everyone is so busy that I don't have anyone to talk to about this and so I have all these thoughts rolling around in my head. And the only way I know to make that stop is to systematically start looking for answers... making my head busy with other stuff... Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. Please feel free to send me a private message if you don't want to post publicly; I know how sensitive these subjects are.
  2. My fist appointment is Tuesday, it's only supposed to be an hour, and I don't have any restrictions. It will be interesting to hear back from you or others as to why your appointment is different. Good luck!!
  3. I haven't had surgery yet, but my research seems to indicate that it's caused by not getting enough Protein. So, while there may be a minimum amount of protein that you need to get a day, you might consider speaking to your NUT and increasing your protein. Good luck!!
  4. I agree with you. I'm really interested in their start weights (especially those over 300#s) and how long it took them to get to where they are. It gives me more 'hope' to be able to 'see' those stats. So, I'm trying to make sure I keep my profile page busy and up to date.
  5. I'm so excited for you! Praying for you right now!!

  7. I'm actually looking forward to the pre-op diet. I want to lose some weight before surgery so I am a bit ahead of the game. Am I weird?
  8. It seems like many of the drinks are under 20 grams of Protein. Has anyone tried this one? http://www.swansonvitamins.com/about-time-whey-protein-isolate-vanilla-2-lbs-pwdr?csi=SYX002&csp=AT001 I've heard that there is less hair loss after surgery if you stay on the high side of protein.
  9. OH!! Now I understand. My dr. office called last week to reschedule my first appointment with the surgeon, and to tell me that my surgeon will be leaving the practice in a few months, but because of my insurance, I don't have to weight the usual "6 month" weight period, so I could probably have the surgery before she leaves if I wanted to. I was to overwhelmed to ask what she was talking about, but now I understand. I have Medicare and a bmi of over 50. How did this happen. I can't believe that I've regained 50 over the last year. Self-loathing... I can lose weight. I've don't it before. I just can't seem to keep it off...
  10. Hi! I know the original post is a bit old, but I'm in EUGENE and I'm having my first appointment with Dr. Folek on 1/14. It's only been a few weeks since I went to the orientation, so I've not been do a support group meeting yet. Anyway, I would love to connect with other Sleeve folks in the area.
