  1. That is truly inspirational. You were beautiful before and now you are beautiful and healthy!!!! So happy for you.
  2. Wow you look incredible!
  3. Shmily, I'm so sorry you experienced such an horrific loss. I fear anything happening to my hubby. I hope time has helped you heal.
  4. Zappo, I don't have narcolepsy but I've always slept very little. Since having the surgery my sleeping has totally changed For the better. I'm like a normal person. I know everyone is different but I'll bet the surgery would help.
  5. I lived in the Tampa area for 16 years :-)
  6. It's hard not to get on the scale. I have cut it down to once a week. As a slow loser I'm sure it would be so much better not to weigh for maybe every 2 or 3 weeks but even in weight watchers you weigh once a week. I don't have a scale I weigh at my friends so I am definitely not too obsessive about it. It's just when I finally do go on and see no change or very little change after hard work it is confusing. I know you lose the most in the first couple weeks so if that is the case I'm surely in trouble. On the flip side I can't do anything about it now. I just have to keep my head up and keep pressing on but I thank God I have a place to vent about it. A place were I may find others who can relate. I'm also wondering if there is anyone out there who has only lost 13 lbs 6 weeks out. Maybe I want to find others so I can assure myself I'm not all alone. That it's not so abnormal. It helps to vent but then I go back to the gym and I pick myself up by the boot straps and press on . . . Until I weight again the following week.
  7. Thanks for responding. Sometimes I just need to vent and not think I'm the only one.
  8. Do you ever wonder if something is wrong? I wonder what the heck is it about me that I just can't seem to lose weight? I mean I had the lap band for 7 years and now Gastric Bypass and still I'm not losing. I feel like there has to be something else here that is amiss. Is there something doctors just don't recognize. How in the heck can someone eat 400 calories a day and still be overweight? I can see the body hanging on because of the starvation thing but how long can it hold on? 6 weeks, 3 months? 7 years? I just don't get it. I am still trying to stay positive. I am going to the gym in the am. I continue to do what I'm supposed to in the hope that someday when I step on the scale the extreme will eventually pay off.
  9. Oh boy, here I go again but I am just sooooooo discouraged and I need to talk about it. I will be 6 wks post op on Tuesday. I started the gym this week and did 3 days in a row. I've been feeling pretty good about adding exercise. Because I am slow loser I haven't been weighing myself often. I thought tonight would be a good night to weight myself in light of me adding activity and loo and behold it was another slap in the face. I actually gained a pound. In 6 weeks I've lost a total of 12 lbs. is that really even possible? Is there anyone here to have lost such a small amount? I'm taking in protein, drinking water, exercising. I feel so defeated and disappointed.
  10. You look great. So happy for you!!!!!!!!!
  11. Hello shirabland I just started the c25k app too. I'm on my second day. Loving it so far!
  12. I was wondering about vitamin E and was glad to see this post. Is it better to take a pill or rub on oil? I just want bettet overall skin.
  13. Never thought to run through a cheesecloth. Great idea. I didn't think bananas would give me that berry flavor. I have one more week to go until I'm 6 weeks post op. I really hope I can eat strawberry again.
  14. I actually have a question. Before surgery I used to have a fruit smoothie with mixed berries. I used protein powder, 1/2 cup mixed berries, water, low fat milk, low fat yogurt. I'm struggling post surgery with my protein shake because it is vanilla and I'm so sick of the flavor that I'm nauseous from it and it takes me hours to choke it down. Also when I blend it in my ninja it's frothy Is there anything healthy I can use to make a fruit smoothie alternative like the mixed berry flavor. I can't have any fruit with seeds. Thank you in advance
  15. Chefkelly you are a genius! Wow, thank you for the awesome advise. I see a Bariatric cook book in your future :-) I never thought to cook chicken with yogurt. You give some amazing ideas. Thank you soooo much.
  16. Chefkelly I am so jealous of your gift to know how to cook and throw ingredients together. I'm struggling on the soft foods stage because I'm not creative at all with cooking. I literally have lived on protein shakes, cheese sticks and jello for 5 weeks. I don't even eat eggs or chicken because I don't like the flavor alone without bread or cheeses etc.
  17. You look amazing. Congrats
  18. Thank you ladies. I will try that. I can't wait until I can have fruit again so I can go back to my mixed berries smoothie.
  19. I'm 5 weeks post op today. I haven't weighed myself in a while. I'm scared to step on a scale and not see results. I'm having a little issue with the protein shakes. I'm so bored with them. I'm naucious thinking about them much less drinking them. Anyone else sick of them and if so how have you changed it up?
  20. Lhargis sorry to hear of your frustration. I'm sure someone will have some great feedback for you here. I can only sympathize as I too am a slooooowwwwwwww loser despite my efforts. Everyone says plateaus are just a part of it and it will pass. I've heard to up the protein and water intake and that has done the trick.
  21. Wow congrats you look incredible.
  22. Sorry to hear about your stricture. I'm not even sure what that is but I'm sure your in good hands and will make a speedy recovery.
  23. It will come :-) It is hard to be patient. Keep us posted on your surgery date.
  24. I just saw them today as a matter of fact at the grocery store and wondered if anyone has tried them. Looks, very delish
