  1. That's not good, Have you contacted your doctor's office or nutritionist? I'm having the opposite problem, seem to be constipated. Hope you feel better soon, I would try calling so you have a good weekend, maybe they can fit you in this afternoon.
  2. I just tried to send you an invite from Fitbit but it won't send. Try sending to me at lthueme@gmail.com
  3. I was banded the day before you. I am still having some gas, ok well more than some lol! I have also noticed that I am tired in the evening. I am usually a night owl! My husband thinks the fatigue may be due to eating far less then I used to so I just don't have the fuel. For the most part I have no problem with foods, I am doing a mix of mushy and soft foods. Hope you start feeling better soon!
  4. Glad to start connecting with all of you. Can definitely use the support and motivation!
  5. I am 3.5 weeks post op and I still have 2 steri strips that have not come off. The uppermost strip hasn't even started to loosen and my lower right has only a little bit left. As they loosen I have been trimming the tape so it doesn't catch on my clothes. I was in on Monday for my first fill and my surgeon wasn't concerned at all. Said they will come off in time. I can relate to your incision healing though. About 3 years ago I had gall bladder surgery. I had one incision that one morning when I woke up it was red and oozing all over my bed. I went immediately to my surgeon, the same one in fact, and he had to clean it out and put me on antibiotics. Glad you got in right away and got yours taken care of before you got to that point. I had no idea mine was even a problem until it burst open. So I have been extra careful this time around. Definitely no lifting, pushing, pulling and keeping my clothing free of the sites until they heal. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck in healing!
  6. Here is my profile link for Fitbit, if you can't connect from there PM me http://www.fitbit.com/user/27G75P
  7. I love my Fitbit! I have been using it since about August. I think it is helping me to become accountable by logging everything I eat and tracking my steps. When I am able to get back to the gym I will be adding my workouts. I would love to add anyone as a friend on Fitbit, feel free to send me a request. My link is in my signature
  8. I like Paleo Protein from GNC. I had been using it prior to surgery as a protein supplement after the gym. It has a good flavor, I like the Triple Chocolate, I didn't care for the Vanilla Almond as well. The only thing I have found with it is that it tends to have a lot of bubbles after I shake it, so I make it before I need it and then let it sit and settle. It runs about $34 for a large jug. It has 21 grams of protein 0 sugar and 120 calories and you mix with water. 28 servings so pretty reasonable per serving.
  9. You will be fine! I was so surprised that I was not nervous at all before my surgery. I think that I had just been to a nutrition class within two weeks prior and read again through my notebook from the Bariatric Center really helped me. We are all here for you, feel free to ask any questions and someone will answer. The hospital was very good about coming in and asking me my pain level and giving me meds if needed. Good luck, I'm here for you! Let us know you are ok after surgery.
  10. Thanks for your insight, both of you! I am so glad that I had started eating much healthier (Paleo) & working out 3-4 months pre-op. This makes it much easier to continue as I introduce foods back into my diet. My mind was already in the healthier mode, just needed one more tool to start the weight loss to kick in. My doctor cleared me for going back to the gym and starting out slowly on the machines, tomorrow will be my first day back. I'm sure that I will experience issues as time goes but for right now, all is well
  11. Glad to read all of your posts. I have been debating on what I want to do. Pre-surgery only my husband and 3 kids knew. 2 of my kids are very supportive and 1 is not, she thinks I am starving myself (she is a health nut with going to the gym daily). A couple of days post surgery I told my mom and 2 sisters. At Christmas my husband told his family, mainly because they noticed my weight loss and I was still in the mushy food stage. I have a few very close friends on FB that are all in a secret weight loss support group together and I shared with them. They are also part of my military mom support group, so we are always supporting each other in some way. I think that is all that I will share with, like you all say, it's my life and no one really needs to know.
  12. I was banded on Dec 9 and just had my first fill today, 2cc. I am loving my band so far! I was one week into the pureed foods stage and even eating some soft foods without any problems. Back to full liquids for 24 hours then I can start back to foods again. Also cleared for going back to the gym, so I plan to hit the gym on Thursday. Just advised to take it easy yet on any abdominal exercises. I would like to get back up to where I was on the treadmill then start adding weight machines back in. Hoping this will help with the bloated look and start getting a little toning to my body.

  15. I totally understand "playing the game" that is what I was told too. Good luck on your weigh in, if it is snowing wear a heavy pair of boots and sweater . Things are going well, I have an appt on Monday also for my first follow up and fill. Gradually adding foods back into my meals, seeing what I can tolerate and what may have to wait a little longer. Very happy with the way things are progressing. Keep us updated on your progress, keep the faith, it will happen.
  16. I'm glad that some of you are catching on....I was about ready to jump in with my 2 cents worth but you have hit the nail on the head. Looking at her profile, there are inconsistencies with what she has posted. At any rate, this has been a good reminder for us newbies on what to eat and not eat, etc. Thank you all for your comments, very helpful to me as I am making the transition from liquids to solid foods.
  17. I would contact your doctor and also a dietician, together you can determine what your calorie intake should be. Record everything you eat and when. That way they can determine where you need to make changes. Where I had mine done they have a dietician on staff and we are encouraged to contact her with any questions.
  18. That was me, I was denied my first time around for lack of documentation even though the insurance company did not say what they wanted. I was almost denied the second time because I was under the BMI requirement. I also have GERD, stress incontinence and knee pain. My doctor told me to stop trying so hard to lose weight and exercise everyday prior to surgery. I went in for another weigh in and just made the cut. Work with your doctor, the whole goal is a healthy you. Maybe they aren't writing the request properly to add the co-morbidities. You could also call you insurance to ask specifically what they want. I did that and got it in writing. Good luck!
  19. How do you track what you eat? You can create a profile for free on MyFitnessPal to track your food and exercise. I used to use that before I bought my Fitbit 4 months ago. I now track everything there. Everything I eat or drink is recorded and the website calculates my calorie intake and expenditure. I make sure to keep calories in below calories out. It also tracks your protein intake. Take a look at my Fitbit profile with the link in my signature. It's just another tool to help keep you accountable. I love it!
  20. My daughter used to work at L'Eggs/Hanes/Bali/Playtex and is a certified bra fitter. I will be taking her with me when I shop for bras. She measures, checks the fit and brings me several to try on. I know I was her worst customer when she was working there lol but it really makes a difference to have someone to tell you exactly what you need and know their product. Even though you have the measurements, different bras fit different depending on the style. You may wear one size in one style and another size in a different style.
  21. How often do you see your doctor? I will have my first checkup/fill on Monday and I know that I have to see him every month for the next 18 months. Call tomorrow or Monday if they are closed for the weekend. Your doctor and the support staff are there to make sure that everything is going well for you. Don't wait, let us know that you went in and what the results are. You have to be happy. Like you, I am very pro-protein. I had started eating Paleo about 2-3 months prior to surgery. I am looking forward to adding my favorite proteins and carbs back into my diet.
  22. By now I hope you are feeling a little better and getting up out of bed. Check back in and let us know how you are doing!
  23. Hope you are feeling better as the day goes on. I would make sure that all that is recorded in your medical records for future reference. As Bandista says, you may have a problem with the anesthesia. Keep us posted on your recovery.
  24. Awesome! Keep up the good work!
  25. Wow, I couldn't imagine doing the surgery as outpatient! That is what my insurance wanted but I told my doctor to find a reason to keep me overnight. I hope you have a restful night and feel better tomorrow. The gas is the worst part of the surgery for sure, I still have bloating, wish this gas would all go away.
