Hi Ladies, I am a newbie also. Went to the Seminar in December and I have my first consultation with the surgeon on January 10. I believe my insurance covers bariatric surgery when medically necessary and I have a BMI over 40. I just hope I don't have to do the 6 month weigh in, keeping fingers crossed. I will follow up when I meet with surgeon and know more about what my requirements are. I have great support from my family, friends and co-workers! Good luck to all.

Thank you Bufflehead! I called my insurance company and they really don't like to give you too much information. It was like pulling teeth to get a round a bout answer. I am covered and she said my doctor would explain better my benefit of limitations. I asked her does it mean I have to meet certain criteria and she finally said yes and I may to have to have certain test done, I gues the normal procedure for Bariatric Surgery. This is hopeful! I certainly meet the BMI requirement!

Hi, I have United Healthcare Oxford Exclusive Plan/ Freedom Network. My paper work said Bariatric Surgery is covered with Limitation of Benefits. Would anyone know what they mean by Limation of Benefits. I have emailed the insurance company because I cannot view my Certificate of Coverage online, I get a error message saying not not available try again later. I live in NY. Thank you in advance!
