  1. Hi guy's - another day done on the pre-op diet. I don't know if it's wishful thinking but today seemed a little bit better today although work got super crazy and I didn't get to eat mid-afternoon which means I am starving now. I am in the process of cooking dinner and had a little pineapple while doing so. A friend of mine (who was sleeved 12 months ago) advised me to have a little fresh pineapple to deal with the bad taste in my mouth and post surgery, suggested sucking on the pineapple (not eating it) - I have a white coating on my tongue (apparently from being in ketosis) that is causing the bad taste and the acid in the pineapple gets rid of it. Anyone else heard of this? I really enjoyed the little bit of pineapple tonight but I kind of like sour things
  2. Hi everyone- so I woke up today without a headache and not starving (yay). I ended up calling the dietician who has sent me through a full plan without any shakes in it- woot! I have a banana smoothie for brekky, then 100g lean meat and lunch and tea with two cps of veggies and two pieces of fruit through the day. I am so relieved !
  3. Thanks I will give her a call tomorrow I think. It all seems to have hit me tonight - feeling quite giddy atm and sick. Yech...I am going to go to sleep as I am sick of hearing myself whine lol. I will do as you suggest and become more proactive about it by calling the NUT Thanks for your support! Hope you're going well now!
  4. That is my exact concern!! Has anyone heard of that happening - them going in and not doing the op?
  5. I think part of the problem is my NUT took me off the shakes because of the side effects I was having. I am having 100g lean protein twice per day though but today there was an emergency at work and I was stuck on the ward until almost 4pm which meant all I had to eat all day was a boiled egg and an apple. That is probably a part of the problem I think I am just having a mini-meltdown lol
  6. Day two of the pre-op diet is drawing to a close and I'm miserable. I have a nasty headache, I've eaten dinner and I am still hungry, I feel kind of nauseated and I am grumpy. Not good. I had to do a pizza run for the volunteers painting the church and it was HELL. Ordering all that pizza and picking it up...not a good feeling. I am trying to put it into perspective...it's just food, you control it blah blah blah...but for some reason I think i am wallowing in my misery. I have to snap out of it...but am not sure how. I am extraordinarily tired too which I attribute to coming off the sugar. Can I ask anyone out there already sleeved - is this is what life is like forever? Do you get the headaches, nausea and grumpiness forever? Starting to have second thoughts...which surprises the hell outta me. I've been so confident - but if this is the reality I am not sure I am ready
  7. I am having a miserable time of things tonight. I had to do a pizza run for my family (who volunteered to paint the church hall after work this week) which turned into ordering and collecting 7 pizza's for all the other workers. The ordering and smell were TORTURE. I know that they don't do it deliberately but man, it was a killer. I was then supposed to take the leftovers home and I am like what the heck? I don't want it in my goddamn house! So I've left it in the car (which will now stink of pizza) and said I'll go out and drop it off when they get home. So frustrating. My stomach hurts from being hungry. Sorry to be so whiney (I know that I am responsible for my weight) but OMG anyone who said this is an "easy" option has no freaking clue. And I am just two days into the pre-op diet. Starting to have serious second -thoughts...
  8. WOOT! We will be sleeve buddies looking forward to meeting you on the ward lol!
  9. Thanks Shellz I'd been going pretty well up until about 7pm. I'd had dinner and was feeling like, what that's it? I kept drinking Water hoping it would fill me and it did but oddly enough I am still h-ungry I've also started to get a bit of a headache which I'd avoided so far, so I think I'll try to have an early night and with luck, will put it behind me!
  10. Thanks I hope that it does...find for the first time today I am hungry even though I've eaten. It probably is because I am used to having huge amounts to eat at night and not eat at all during the day. Plus there are less distractions at night...perhaps I will have to work a bit more lol...keep myself busy. I am driving to the coast on Sunday (day before) as I have to work on Saturday - I've been trying to fit in all my clients at least once this month before I take three weeks off...it's hard! Thanks to everyone for your support...it really does make a difference! Cheers, Lila

LOL thanks My surgery is on Monday 3 September - two weeks from today! I can't wait and thanks for your response!
  14. LOL not nervous, just excited at this stage. I have no doubt I will be packing it on the day though
  15. Just paid the surgeon and the hospital there's no turning back now lol! Only have the anaesthiologist to go and I am fully paid up ... Waiting on the details from the WLS so I can pay them too...
  16. Okay so my NUT has given me the all clear to reduce the shakes to 1 n the morning and then to add 100 g lean protein twice a day. Yay! So pleased as it was getting very unpleasant lol
  17. Yeah I am having Optislim actually and I am really struggling with the shakes I kind of like the coffee ones and do like the strawberry but that is about it. I have added ice to them to try to make it easier and it does but it's still tough. I also can have two pieces of fruit, two jellies and 2 cups of veggies so will rely on that mostly. I am just waiting to talk to Taryn now
  18. That is a great achievement!!!! My surgeon thought is would lose about 15 kg or 10% of my weight in that first six weeks so I hope that is a good guide for you and you're only at 4 weeks! Don't stress if you are feeling good dont worry about it! Are you doing measurements too? See how you are going there! You might get a shock
  19. Hi all...so started my pre-op diet officially this morning and am feeling GREAT...not that.i am loving the shakes lol but that it's the beginning of the end am counting down my 14 days now til surgery and I can't wait! My problem is that I am lactose intolerant and the shakes are causing me some problems in that area am going to call the NUt today to see what I can do...hoping to reduce to two shakes per day if possible to minimise my exposure to lactose and hopefully make the symptoms manageable but I will see how I go

Dear food, You have been a source of refuge and comfort for a long time, something to warm me on cold winter nights and to celebrate life's milestones. But sadly, our relationship is no longer working for me. You've become an obsession, an unhealthy and unproductive millstone. So I've decided that it's time to say goodbye. There are some special mentions I'd like to make...good bye massive bowls of spaghetti, blocks of chocolate, cheesy pizza and my old friend, coke. Though over the coming days our parting will be difficult, and I will no doubt long for the days when I would indulge in you with impunity, I am excited to let you go. I will get an opportunity to explore life beyond this obsession. So with sadness but absolute determination, fare thee well, old friends. With no regrets, Lila (I start my pre-op diet in the morning And I am actually feeling excited about it! Wish me luck!!)
  21. Do you mind if I ask where you had your surgery done?
  22. New fave workout song - Some Nights by FUN. Anyone else have a fave? I am looking to put a playlist together
  23. It was exactly 10 business days after I submitted the paperwork. I called on day 9 and they advised me they were processing it and to call back the next day. I did, and it was all approved Was actually easy - the waiting sucked though
