  1. Hi Michelle and Cyndi, I am from vt too and have dr forgione for my dr. I was all set to get my date for surgery when he found a 5cm hiatal hernia so now I don't know if I can have it or not. I am crushed. He would rather i have an open roux-en-y gastric bypass. I am going to see him on Oct 30 so hopefully I can talk him into the lapband. I am not going to give up. Congrats on the great weight loss. thats awesome.
  2. hi everyone, I need help please. I have been working towards my lapband surgery and now after passing all the test and jumping though hoops, I was all set to get my surgery date when my dr. found I have a 5 cm hiatal hernia and now is telling me my only option is a open roux-en-y gastric bypass instead of the lapband. I am crushed. I do not want to get a gastric bypass especially an open one. Has anyone out there had a 5 cm hiatal hernia and still had the surgery and the hernia fixed at the same time? I wanted this so bad. I finally had something I have not had for a while...... HOPE
  3. Hi everyone, I haven't been banded yet but I too have 2 horses and I asked the doctor before and he said no problem. I have heard that active people have more trouble with a flipped port so I don't know if bouncing on a horse would do that or not. ps nice horse lessnless
  4. I passed my phyc test too. she asked me if i had ever tried to lose weight with exlax or making myself t.u. she also asked me a bunch of questions that weren't hard to answer like how sad are you now, what do you expect the l.b. to accomplish, how discouraged are you. things like that. I too, was worried about passing and thought i would only answer what she asked not get into it too much. thats too bad that you are stalled for another 3 mos. I have bcbs and have made it half way thru all the requirements and lost the 5% weight so far. they told me I was looking at Nov surgery if all went well. I guess it's the all going well that gets us in the end. I now have been diagnosed with hiatel hernia and might not be able to get the surgery unless they determine it is small so I feel your pain. Having to wait after going thru years of being unhealthy is terrible. newbeginnings
  5. Hi everyone, I have been reading everyone's comments and trying to gain as much knowledge as I can about the lapband. I am about half way thru all the requirments and just found out that I have acid reflux and hyatal hernia. Has anyone had this and if so were you still able to have the l.b. surgery? I guess It matters how big it is but I am so afraid I won't be able to get my l.B. because of it:cry. I am going for the scan down my throat on sept 27 so I am just praying that it will be small enough. If it goes well, they said I was looking at November surgery. Wow, I am scared and excited at the same time. Was anyone afraid they wouldn't be able to stick with it after? thanks for any help you can give me. I certainly would appreciate it. Newbeginnings
