  1. I wish I had this ap when I first had surgery. It would have been great to get his kind of support! I am 5 years out and SO so happy! When I went in for my gastric bypass I was a solid 300 lbs. In one year I lost 160 lbs. Today I am 5'4 and a very proud 115 lbs!! Ahhh! If you had asked me 5 years ago if I thought I'd ever get to this point I'd probably say "psh! I wish" Well here I am!! I've never been so happy. It's all the little things are so great. Like wearing belts and tucking your shirt into your pants. Being physically picked up. Riding in airplanes or roller coasters! Shopping! Sharing clothes with friends! Jumping up and down. Going to the gym and not feeling like everyone's looking at you! My whole journey was a roller coaster of emotions and finding out that I really and truly am addicted to food. Like a drug. Am I over my food addictions? No. It's something I'll always have BUT I am in control now. I know when enough is enough. I've had so many cool opportunities come my way because of losing weight. I actually got into some small modeling rolls. I've modeled wedding dresses and been in a Paul Mitchell hair show. I've played the main characters in plays and musicals. I found my husband...seriously the list goes on. Anyway, I just realized today how far I've come. I am so proud! Best decision I ever made!
  2. Mine wasn't as awesome as every one else's. I was actually denied the first time. For 6 months after my denial I had a personal trainer and kept a food diary and sent all that into the insurance company again. They approved me that time. So mine took longer...about 9 months in total and then another 3 months until my actual surgery date.
  3. I had trouble getting dates at first. When most of my weight came off I had gone through a lot of changes. My hair was much thinner and I had an "average" body by then. I didnt eat like like an "average" person though. One guy I was dating thought I was a bulimic. When he found out the truth he was relieved... He was also a heavy man. Later, I dated another guy. He was slender and handsome and cared abut the way he looked very much. When I told him about my surgery he broke things off because he knew I'd probably "get fat again"!! What a jerk. Of course I was terrified to tell any guy about my surgery after that... A couple weeks later that jerk I was dating roommate called me and asked me out. I thought he probably just wanted to ask questions or make fun of me... Well, he had nothing but the best intentions. In fact his sister in law had also had a bypass and she did gain all her weight back. The fact that he knew I had a bypass and that he witnessed for himself that people can gain weight after bypasses and he still wanted to be with me. ....well all I can say 2 years later we got married. I had a lot of rejections in the beginning and a LOT of guys come out of the woodworks when they found out I was thin. I found a man who loves me no matter what I am or will be or could be. ADVICE? Don't settle. Get what you deserve.
  4. I went in weighing 300 lbs and today I am 115 lbs.
  5. I had a tummy tuck this past February. It was no cup of tea. For a month I pretty much had the movement of an 80 year old woman. However after 8 weeks I was perfect. I loved the results! I went down a few sizes in jeans and I'm not embarrassed about my stomach anymore! I'm looking into doing more cosmetic procedures soon.
  6. Hi there! I am 5 years out from my gastric bypass. I would do it again and again if I had to. I had amazing results! I am SO much happier. I really REALLY appreciate that I did the "full thing". I knew the gastric bypass would give me a lot more restrictions and I loved that because I knew that I would cheat anyway I could. If I could find a way to eat more or eat junk food or sip on milkshakes I would..I knew with the gastric bypass it would not allow me to do anything like that. I needed that discipline that I couldn't give myself. I'm 5'4 I went in weighing 300 lbs and today I am 115 lbs! I lost 160 lbs in the first year. Anyway... I highly recommend it!
