  1. I've been taking Colace twice a day, first BM last night .
  2. I agree, I think the first 2 weeks are going to be the hardest. We can do this!
  3. My story so far . I was sleeved on Tuesday, everything went smoothly they said. I was feeling good on Wednesday, able to tolerate PO liquid pain meds and small sips of Protein shakes. They sent me home with instructions to follow my full liquid diet x14 days. I noticed Thursday AM that the nausea was pretty intense- even with the PO Prilosec. I was only able to do small sips and barely managed to get 20 grams of protein in . By that evening I had dry heaved & was convinced I had caused a leak. I was in tears and kept saying "what have I done"- but my husband was a trooper. After checking to see that I had no temp, he called the surgeon. The surgeon called in a script for dissolvable Zofran pills at 11pm that night. What a miracle those little pills have been!! Yesterday and today I have managed to slowly increase my intake. I am sipping on Protein Shakes, and making creamed Soups with a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder added. I have also had sugar free pudding and Popsicles. I have to force myself to drink Water, but am doing better by adding Crystal Light. What is everyone else eating? I am amazed at how people have gone back to work so quickly, I get worn out just showering and taking small walks! I think I will be using the full 6 weeks of leave my surgeon put on my HR paperwork. I am so thankful for these boards- when I was in full out pity party mode, reading other's posts helped snap me out of it .
  4. I went home yesterday after surgery Tuesday. I was doing OK until today. Lots of nausea & dry heaved after taking meds. I am trying small bites of soup (on FLD x 2 weeks) and SF pudding. Not getting nearly enough in, but hopefully will start getting closer with each day?
  5. I'm scheduled for May 6th as well! Starting to get nervous, but excited . Today I'm going to Costco to buy some Premier Protein shakes; I also ordered the Unjury unflavored protein powder & chicken soup from their website yesterday. My preop diet is going well, I'm on the 4 shakes +1 meal plan. How is everyone doing? What types of protein shakes are you stocking up on?
  6. Wow- how many calories? I'm on 1000-1100/day. My shakes are 110 each (440 total), then dinner is 400-500, and one fruit. Right around the corner is right!
  7. How are you all doing with your pre-op diets?
  8. Hi Annie68 - how is the pre-op diet going? How are you doing? Good! I started the day after they called me (4/25), since it was less than 2 weeks to my date. They have me on a 4+1 plan, 4 shakes and one meal/day. Is that similar to what you guys are on? They gave me a handout with dinner suggestions, which really helps . My hardest time is at night if I'm watching TV, that's our biggest snack time. The dietician suggested sugar free Jello, which helps! I was signed up for the post op diet instruction class on the day that is now my surgery date, so they are having me come in today to go over everything. I'm still in disbelief that my surgery is one week from tomorrow!!
  9. I am scheduled May 6th as well . I have BCBS MI. My surgery eval was last Monday, they called Thursday to say I was set to go. I am excited!!
  10. Thanks! It's so nice to be able to chat with people going through the same thing .
  11. I completed my 6 month requirement the 1st week of April & met my surgeon on Monday 4/21. Today I received the call from the surgeon's office saying I'm set to go! She asks "how's May 6th?" Seriously!! Less than 2 weeks. I start my preop diet today . I'm so excited, yet so nervous.
  12. I hope it's better today? From what I've read, it can be quite painful .
  13. How are you doing? I hope everything went well!
  14. Only 2 weeks to go, I'm so excited for you!!
  15. I am also going through Beaumont! May I ask, which surgeon did you choose...Chengelis or Krause? How long did it take to get in with them? My 6 month appt at the Beaumont Weight Center is the first week of April- I am hoping to have a surgery date sometime in May. Good luck to you, your date is coming up quickly!
  16. Hello! My psych appt isn't until November- let me know how it goes!
  17. Thinking of you today, I hope everything is going well .
  18. Hello everyone, just wanted to say how grateful I am to have found this group! I have been struggling with my weight all of my adult life (just turned 45). I have been successful losing the weight several times, only to end up gaining everything back within a couple of years . I had just about given up, when a nursing coworker told me about the gastric sleeve procedure she was considering. My BMI is 36 (5ft 4in), so I didn't think I would qualify. Due to my high blood pressure though, BCBS of MI said that I would! I have to undergo 6 months of supervised nutritional counseling- which I started this week. My surgery date, if all goes as planned, should be late April 2014. I look forward to following everyone's progress & am thrilled to be able to join a group where I am understood- all I hear from family and friends is "no, you don't need surgery." They just don't understand how heartbreaking it is to lose and gain back the same 70 pounds .
