  3. Hi everybody.. So basically, I already did all of my pre op stuff, yayyyyy!!! Yesterday I met with my sugeon (who I love) and I came prepared with tons of questions. I feel so good and comfortable with my decision of having this surgery. My surgeon told me that my paperwork was going to be submitted to the insurance company this week, and we should hear back from then within a week. At this point, all I have left to do is lose the last 5lbs (my surgeon wanted me to lose 5% of my weight and I am already down 7lbs) and the next time I see him on May 14th, I am hoping to leave that office with a date. IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!
  4. Welcome Sa'.., Well, I am also new to this whole thing. I initially went into my surgeons office back in February '13, determine to get the lap band. I felt like I did my research and I knew what I wanted. Lets just say that after 20 minutes with him, I changed my mind. Not only are doctors not recommending the sleeve, the percentages of people with a band getting a revision are insane. So I can totally understand what you are going through. At this point, I already did all of my pre op requirements. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork yesterday, and all I am waiting right now is for the insurance's decision and for me to lose 5lbs (my surgeon wanted to me to lose 5% of my body weight, and I am 5lbs shy from the goal). I have BCBS MA, and as of a year ago, the sleeve wasn't even approved. Anyways, welcome to the journey. This is a great website with tons of information!!! Good luck!! ~A
  5. Hi everyone.., So I've been thinking about WLS for quite some time now. However, there was always something preventing me from do it. Finally in January '13 I decided it was time to change my life, took a seminar online and scheduled an appointment at the center for weight control at my clinic. Within a week of taking the seminar, I already had a scheduled meeting with my surgeon. DUring our initial meeting, I went prepared with tons of questions (I was determined to get the lap band), but the more I spoke with my surgeon, the more I realized VSG was the right surgery for me. Right after the meeting, he did some labs and scheduled me for a psych and nutrition consult, as well as an ekg and a swallowing test. All of this appointments were in March. I met with him two weeks ago, everything came back great. Now I have another appointment next week with the psychiatrist and nutrionist to check, and meet again with my surgeo on the 24th. I don't know if I am crazy, but I am under the impression that by then we will submit my paperwork for insurance and scheduled my surgery date. Is this normal?? I mean I am a little scared that after reading many blogs things have been quite smooth for me. Should I be scared???
