  1. So excited too-- I have my initial Dr. Appt 2/14.. I've been to support group meetings ,seminars, and have read every Sleeve blog on the net.. Now I'm ready for my own journey to start. It is scary though!
  2. Oh my, Now I'm rethinking everything. I was so confident and excited about having this procedure, now my brain is mush again. I will be self pay and the thought of making this large monetary investment in myself (not to mention the pain) and have it not work is scary.
  3. Oh come on, us over 50 gals can be fun!!!!! Apparently we'll need to oil up our joints and knees first.
  4. I have already had 2 replacements on the same knee and now I'm having trouble with the other. Two years ago I gave my insurance provider (BC/BS) a choice . A $12,000 sleeve surgery or a $75,000 knee surgery. Since my plan doesn't cover weight reduction they happily chose the later. And we wonder why medical insurance is so high.
  5. No I have definitely decided. Hopefully it will be in March. I am self pay and will have all my funds together at that time. I have had phone consult w/ my Dr. And he saw no problem . I love this site! I am 61 yrs. old and very blessed health wise except bad knees. I have gained a lot of courage and insight while getting an occasional giggle from the group on here.
  6. Sign me up! I find myself visiting this site daily and I have learned so much .But for me it seemed to be hostile at times. I'm all for positive reality based support. Because I have basically no support group here at home I was great full to have found this site. I know that I could do a topic search for the answers to my questions but I could do that on just about any Google search. What was important to me is to know that there was a real person on the other end of my post interested in speaking back to me. No matter how many times before that had heard my comment or question. Sometime it is more about the comfort and support than it is about the actual question. Sometimes we are just scared and need that connection.
  7. I have decided to go to Dr.Richards at USA Medical. I am self pay and will have the funds together in March. I'm egar to began.
  8. Have you decided on a doctor yet
  9. Does everyone have to have this test?

  12. I am going to use Dr. William Richards @ USA Medical. I have met him and some of his staff and they were easy to bond with. The price they gave me was $9999.00 all inclusive. I plan on having my sleeve in March. Since I am self pay I am having to wait til then to get my finances lined up.
  13. I am thinking on getting the sleeve. I too will self pay . USA Medical Ctr on Mobile al quoted me $9999.00 .Which is less expensive then any other in my area.
  14. I have been searching for facilities in Mobile,Al. As I will be paying out of pocket I have been checking for prices. USA Medical is under $10000.00 . Any comments about this hospital?

For those of you with BCBS. Did your handbook spell out NO coverage for any weight loss surgery even if medically necessary. Mine does but I was wondering if I should try anyway
