  1. Thank you everyone who shared. I just was wondering if what you ate immediately post-op had any difference on what you could tolerate in the long run. My post-op diet is 4 weeks of liquids and I am on week 3 of that. I am allowed to start mushy food on week 6. I see from all of your posts that everyone has a different post-op diet, but those of you with "sleeves of steel" seem to have started the mushy phase sooner than what I am allowed. I find this all to be so interesting. I just hope that I end up with a steel sleeve too =)
  2. I understand that everyone's body reacts differently to the surgery, but I am curious to know what the people with "sleeves of steel" ate on their post-op diet. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
  3. I have been drinking decaf coffee black to make up for missing regular coffee. My doctor allows us to drink decaf. Good luck!
  4. I no longer felt sore in my stomach about one week post-op. Hope you feel better soon!
  5. Hello =) I was sleeved on April 2. I feel great, but I am definitely missing food. My doctor has us doing a 4 week post-op liquid diet. I see that many people on here are already able to eat mushy food so I am so curious to know how the eating is going for those of you who have tried to eat. I am dying for some mashed potatoes and tuna fish However, according to my doctor's diet for patients, I will not be able to eat any of that stuff till week 6.
  6. I was sleeved on 4/2/12 Pre-surgery start weight - 254 Date of Surgery Weight - 236 Weight to Date - 221 My doctor has on a 4 week liquid diet post-op. I can have broth, Protein Shakes, and Water. I am dying for food!!!
  7. Congratulations on your weight loss! You look beautiful in your pics =)
  8. I had my surgery April 2 and I still hear all kinds of crazy sounds going on inside my belly =)
  9. I have not started to take my multivitamin yet. My paperwork says that I can start that after I have my first office visit post-op which is this coming Wednesday. I am already using sensodyne toothpaste. Thanks for the information.
  10. I had my sleeve done this past Monday (4/2). My teeth and mouth feel weird. It feels like maybe my gums are bleeding, but it doesnt look like that. I have no teeth or gum issues - I have never even had a cavity. Is this normal? Thank you for any help or information.
  11. I had surgery this past Monday (4/2) and I have an appointment to have the drain removed this Wednesday (4/11). I had my surgery done in New York. Good luck to you!
  12. I am now 5 days post-op and feeling great. I get my drain removed on Wednesday. While there, I am going to ask the NUT about when I can start drinking my coffee again. Thank you again for sharing your information with me =)
  13. I have told just about anyone who was wondering where I would be tomorrow (when I am having my surgery), and all of my family and friends. I do not really care what anyone else thinks, but that is always how I have lived. Anyone who judges your the personal choices that you make for your body is not anyone you should want to be around anyways. I have had nothing but positive support (to my face lol) with the exception of a few people who cannot believe that "I am fat enough" for this surgery. I tell them, well believe it lol
  14. I am pre-op and having surgery tomorrow. I guess I thought I was being creative and inventive lol I didnt realize that it is an eating disorder. Living with 2 young kids and a husband eating Chinese food was just killing me tonight. I got through it. Thank you for the feedback and your kind words of encouragement =)
  15. So if you are on a liquid diet, can you chew food and spit it out before you swallow it? This way nothing goes down the hatch, but you still get to taste real food. I am getting desperate lol
  16. I am not originally from Freeport...new to the area =) Grew up in VS. Graduated in '94..Keep in touch =)
  17. I am in South Freeport. We are neighbors =) Thank you.
  18. Totally am feeling the same way! I absolutely love to eat and even told my husband that maybe I should postpone the surgery so I can have a little more time eating the foods I didnt get to have a "funeral" for. I know it is completely irrational, but I love food. I have my surgery tomorrow and just finished the optifast liquid diet for the last 3 weeks which made me totally cranky. On a bright note, I did lose 20 pounds. However, then I started thinking well if I could have the willpower to do a liquid diet and lose weight, maybe I dont need the surgery? OF course, I know I need this because it is always impossible for me to get the weight off (well at least since I had my kids anyways). Today, I am only allowed clear liquids. Having to feed two small kids does not help either! So, no - you are definitely NOT alone.
  19. hello =) long island/nassau county here....having my surgery tomorrow. i am sorry to hear that you are having issues. where on LI?
  20. Jocy - You are so lucky that you are allowed to eat food on your pre-op diet. Today is my day before surgery so I am allowed to eat broth and water, but no optifast shakes (and that is a refreshing change lol). Good luck to you
  21. Hey...wondering if I should even bother buying k-cups for after my surgery....regular or decaf coffee? Is it even tolerable? Thanks =)
  22. Thank you for the feedback. Everything has been resolved and I am set for surgery on Monday. WOW!!!!!!
  23. I am scheduled for surgery on Monday. When my pc doctor reviewed my pre-surgical testing, he said he would not approve me because I have keytones and bile in my urine. Of course, the surgeon's office was not open by the time I had my appointment so now I have to wait till they speak today to find out if I can have this done or not. I have been on the optifast liquid pre-op diet for almost 3 weeks. Anyone else have this experience?
  24. Congratulations! I am so happy to hear your news because I am so nervous about my surgery coming this Monday =)
