Dehydration? I can't keep my liquids down. D:
Ms. Betty never called and got back to me. It's kinda okay though, yesterday things kinda picked up and I was able to drink more throughout the day. I went to the bathroom twice and it wasn't as dark as it had been. I think I'm getting better now.

Weight GAIN during liquid diet?
Yeah, that happened to me a couple of times, though I wasn't weighing myself in the same clothes or anything. The thing is, no matter what, weight fluctuates a bit. Also, if you believe in the theory of starvation mode, then that's exactly what's happening! I believe in that theory. Your body wants to save itself, you know? It wants to make sure you will survive, and so your limited diet is making it keep what it can, and it's reluctant to let it go. Basically, don't worry about the scale too much right now, you know you aren't over eating or anything if you're following your diet right. Weight fluctuates all the time, don't let the scale bother you, and overall, you'll lose more and than you'll gain!

You think he'll give me a refill? I was told they were pretty stingy with pain medicine because it can be addictive if abused, and they have to assume the worst. Well, I still haven't gotten a call back, but I think today has been much better, I'm still not feeling hungry, but I'm feeling significantly less full, and I've already sipped at two cups of warm tea which has settled my stomach significantly! Thank you everyone for your concern, as soon as I get a call back (which will be from Ms. Betty, my nutritionist) I will tell you what she says.

My favorite tea is decaf. It was the first meal I tried. I haven't tried sf Popsicles yet, I'll try that this morning, as soon as it stops hurting.. I think I'm gonna go ahead and take a bit more pain medicine, even though I'm starting to run out..

Thank you, Missy! I was hoping someone who really knew their way around the LAP-Band like you would respond to me! I'm definitely going to call him in the morning, first thing, because I don't want to get super dehydrated, you know? I don't know anything about my band, actually. I don't know the size or if he put any fluid in it at all during surgery, I just know that he put it there and that's it. I'm not even certain where my port is or anything. xP My post-surgery appointment isn't until Oct. 15th, but I am gonna go ahead and call him to see if I can get some advice or answers from him tomorrow. Thank you again, for such a quick, thoughtful response.

Dehydration? I can't keep my liquids down. D:
I'm five days out of surgery, and I'm kind of having some issues. Well, I feel fine and everything, really, I do, but I've had a few issues with being able to drink anything at all really. I sip Water all day, but can never get down more than maybe one or two bottles in a 24 hour period, and I'm suppose to have 6 oz. of liquid 6 times a day for meals, but I can usually only manage two of them. I'm also NEVER hungry. Not at all. I only try the two meals so I can at least make sure I have some nutrition in me. They settle like a lead balloon in my stomach. I think that, maybe, I just swelled a little more than expected, but it is starting to worry me. The past three days, when I finally was able to go to the bathroom, I've only urinated once a day (zero bowel movements since surgery) and it's a pretty dark color, so I'm worried I'm getting really dehydrated. Sorry if that's a bit TMI, but I just need a bit of help keeping liquids down. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow, to see what he says, but I wondered if you guys had any ideas? Maybe I should try less Fluid more times than six times a day? Any advice and prayers would help, thanks! Edit: Also, I haven't thrown up or anything like that, I just constantly feel so full, like I've eaten a huge meal, even though I haven't really eaten anything, you know?

That sounds much different than my Post-Op diet. I'm not transitioning into mushy, baby foods until two weeks after surgery. At four days, I've transitioned into liquids, 6oz, 6 times a day. I can't hold that much though. I usually only manage to keep about 2 1/2 "meals" down in the entire day and a bit of water. I know I'm getting a bit dehydrated, but everything else has been going wonderfully, so I'm just trying to increase my fluid intake and otherwise haven't been worried. I'm not hungry at all, I feel full 24/7, but I occasionally do drink some Pedialyte or part of a protein shake or some tea so that I can get at least some of the needed nutrients. I know it's probably just from swelling, so I'm not too worried about it right now, and I'm sure once I heal a little more, I'll be able to take in more liquids easier.- October bandsters

I hope so too! The stockings are no trouble whatsoever. I occasionally push them down because my leg itches or something, but really, they're just like wearing a slightly tight pair of knee highs. No pain or anything. I feel blessed that my surgeon chose these instead of shots.- October bandsters

Well, with my fear of needles, I'm glad I get to wear the stockings instead. xP They're not really uncomfortable or anything, just a little tight. I gotta make sure they don't get rolled up because then they could actually cut off circulation, but other than that, they haven't bothered me one bit!- October bandsters
I don't have to give myself shots or anything, but I have to wear these special stockings for about two weeks.- Im having a meltdown
You are in my prayers during this difficult time. Take it easy. Heal emotionally first, your band will be there, ready to fill when you're ready.- October bandsters

This is day 4 for me, and I was wondering if anyone else noticed one of their steri-strips just coming off on its own. I don't want this to keep happening, but for now, nothing is exposed or anything. Is this okay? Is there anything I can do for protecting the others from coming off in my sleep or just day to day life.- leaving
I'm totally part of that generation, I'm not going to lie! xP I've been rewarded for good behavior and spoiled my whole life, and so was my sister, but we're very different people. I think you've got a good point, there should be a little bit of both! I have friends who didn't get rewarded for good behavior very often, but were always punished for bad behavior, and I feel like both my childhood and my friends' childhoods were a little unbalanced on that scale. Plus, my sister is intolerably selfish and annoying, and she will not grow up even a little bit, you know? And, I haven't completely lost that. I have goals I set for fun things to do at the end of something really challenging! I'm planning a trip to the Galleria Mall, American Girl store with some friends sometime in November, after I've healed from surgery and everything. I think my need to have something as an end goal every once in a while kind of came from growing up like that, you know?- Really sore after surgery
I'm on day 3 also, but things were a tiny bit easier today. I managed to get dressed and everything today, and I can almost get up on my own without much help. I'm still taking my pain medicine though, because if I miss it even for an hour, it hurts.- An Introduction Post! :)
Aren't they? My church, Seventh Day Baptist Church of Texarkana, sent them to me. They make me feel so much better and so happy whenever I see them! <3- October bandsters
It hurts sometimes but it works sometimes too. My incisions are different than they were on the video though. There's only 4 incisions and they're all really high up, horizontally across. One on the end is a little lower than the others, and I think that's where my port is, but I'm unsure. I have to be really careful when I lay down, and I still prefer sleeping up, but sometimes, I've found, sleeping like I'm use to, on my back or on my stomach, has proven to help alleviate some of the gas.- October bandsters
Today is a lot better than yesterday! Not much gas pain left, and out of four incisions, only the ones on the ends really hurt. Mine are all in a horizontal line. I think I know which one the port is behind because it's always sore there, no matter what, but I don't feel very ill or in a ton of pain, and I'm actually feeling pretty good overall. - October bandsters
