  1. Hi, I was banded in Mexico on July 31. It went really well; the toughest part was the language barrier, but my hubby and I bought a Spanish-English dictionary and had fun with it. I would HIGHLY recommend my doctor, Dr. Salvatore Valencia. He has taught at UCLA and has an excellent medical ethic. My anesthesiologist came by twice, before and after: Dr. V and I talked twice before surgery, and he came by 3 times afterward. I picked him partly because he doesn't seem to spend all his money on advertising. He prefers word of mouth. Good luck with whomever you choose. Jan
