  1. The doctor's office called yesterday and I was approved. I knew I would be but now this is so real exciting and scary.... I know the band is a great tool. I tried for the past 28 years to lose weight I have been on a diet since I was 10 . Sigh.... I'm excited and nervous. It seems like life will resume as normal after I make it to solids again. I already eat pretty healthy and I feel with the band I won't be hungry as often. I have been doing the research and know what my part is to make the band work for me. Now why am I so scared??? I m afraid of the unknown as this is new to me..... I told my best friend yesterday and she was hesitant and supportive I think she reacted like I did the first time the doctor suggested this.... Then my ex decided we should try again... I'm not sure if I want to I am focusing on me but we do love each other and have a lot of history but I am afraid to tell him. He loves me as is fat and all when I lose the 150 pounds I plan on losing then what ...and what about the excess skin 150lbs has a lot of skin involved I'm sure. I walk 3x a week and spin 2-3 a week with some sculpting classes. After the surgery I plan on stepping it up once I receive medical clearance. I have a trainer in mind and all. So I have a plan did the research and am ready so why am I happy but full of anxiety? How do you all feel after being banded ? Did anyone have these fears? Any input will help I read the threads to get a sense of this unknown new life style. Btw I also have a tremendous support system from my family n select friends I told...
  2. I feel the same way with doubts I hope to be banded in July . Heck I have doubts of telling my best friend I'm being banded:( but I read the replies above and agree 100% we gotta try and we can do this this is a tool to help us lose the weight we need to be healthy! I am so greatful I found this site good luck n u got this
  3. The few I told have been super supportive even when I said I wasn't going to get it when I got scared. Now that I decided to do it those i told are great. I'm scared to tell others because of my own fear of them seeing me as a failure for being banded but I need help to lose weight and this the help I need and I'm doing this for me so that's super empowering and exciting good luck
  4. Angiekate I felt the same way but doing nothing can cause bad things too:( one day it clicked and I felt nothing bad could happen. I have been reading the big lapband book n forums on here and found them helpful we are in this together good luck
  5. Thanks everyone . I guess a part of me is afraid of being seen as a failure cause I couldn't do it with the band. My cousin lost 135lbs in one year all on her own no surgery and well I can't. I do have supportive friends n family it's my issue not theirs. I'm not telling coworkers cause the are the last people to tell anything to! I will be off of work for the summer so I figure ill just tell them diet n exercise is what happened and that won't be a lie!!! I'm super excited about the band and pray insurance will approve it and to be banded by mid July so I can get into my new routine before school starts again in the fall. Again thank you you have been great I think this site is a great find and resource
  6. Thank you everyone. After I posted here I bought the book on line. I did ask the surgeon questions. And I'm going to the hospitals monthly support group starting this month and I joined here to look and read aka listen as well. I know my friends will be supportive my family has been super supportive everyone wants to come to the surgery and hold my hand lol I am blessed. Like some of you said this band is not the easy way out as other people think. I think the band is a tool. Hell of I could do it on my own I would !!!'I lost substantial weight 50 lbs a pop several times but I always regained plus some and that's why I am At highest weight now. My fear for telling my others is perhaps their reaction of why I didn't tell them sooner but I know they will be supportive . I am glad I found this site thank you all again.
  7. I have decided to get banded will send my paper work in for approval next week after my next drs visit. Hoping to be banded in July 2013.I have so many mixed emotions I am super excited and hope this tool will give me the weight loss success I so desire. Despite how excited I am I am scared to death. I haven't even told my best friend that I am doing it. I am afraid of the reaction kinda like I am a failure for getting banded but despite my best weight loss attempts in the past 5 years I lost and gained the same 10 pounds about 20 times. I feel like I have so many questions about being banded and yet I can't think of one to ask. I guess tell me all that you think I should know the good and the bad. Thank you
