  1. My Dr says no fruit or yogurt etc in the pre opp! It's very strict, water + protein powder + anything sugar free flavoring wise & then 4 oz of meats, cheeses or eggs.
  2. The surgery itself is only 1/2 hour I found out today. But you'll be back there longer if course with anesthesthia & recovery etc. I haven't been banded yet...
  3. So I had my 3 hour class at my Dr's office today where we had to pick out a flavor of protein shake powder, the choices were: Chocolate Mint Chocolate Cookies n Cream Strawberry Vanilla I was totally unprepared & picked Vanilla?!?!?!? I did over hear a woman saying you could mix in crystal lite, has anyone done this? Or have any ideas what I can add (flavor wise) to get thru this hellish 2 week pre opp diet???

  5. The 2 week pre surgery diet is going to be a nightmare for me!!!!! I truly hope it's the hardest part of the journey like people say! I have a 3 hour class on Tuesday to get all the details on everything, really nervous! Getting banded 3/12/13.
  6. I work for a major corporation, we have 1,000's of employees & are coast to coast. My Dr likes to see you take 2 weeks off, & at work we have to use 5 days of our own time before a "leave" is approved & paid for. Does anyone out there know how likely my 2 nd week will be approved? I'm really kinda hesitant to turn in any paperwork if its an absolute no! I have a huge HR/leaves dept. where I fax everything into, so I'm wondering if they'd communicate to my boss what kind of surgery I'm having? Hopefully someone out there has HR experience & can let me know...
  7. Thanks for sharing & confirming that I saw the video correctly-that was back in October. Does anyone know what the other incisions are for? I understand the one for the port, but why so many others?
  8. I'm getting banded on 3/12/13, and I'm curious what/how many scars you have from this surgery? I understand its done laparoscopically but my surgeons office showed a video that looked like many arms of a machine entering you? Not sure if I knew exactly what I was watching? I'm not scared of having scars (actually have 3 major scars), I'm just wanting to be 100% on what yo expect! Thanks in advance!
  9. I'm kinda shocked at that video, he not only says its fine to have a drink or two a day of alcohol, but to have a glass of water with your meals, which I thought was a no-no?!?!?!? I'm scheduled for surgery on 3/12, and I don't have my 4 hour class on everything until 2/12, so I'm trying to piece together the do's and dont's for now....hhmmmm. Kinda confused now!!!!
  10. Thanks everyone! I'm not a heavy drinker by any means I just have a few on the weekend! To me it wouldn't be a vacation without being able to have a few cocktails on the beach!!!!!!
  11. I have my surgery 3/12/13. I'm wondering if its ok to have an occasional drink if you are banded? I have a vacation planned for September (6 months post opp) and I'd like to indulge of a drink here or there? Any thoughts?
  12. I'm 3/12/13, very nervous & uncertain of a lot of things still...
  13. Every fill u go back to clear liquids for a week?
  14. Thanks! My Dr does have a couple classes I'd have to take if I move forward, that is if my insurance approves it, I started 3 months ago right at a BMI of 40. Tomorrow is my final visit before they submit it to see if approved. I really haven't wanted to get my hopes up incase they don't approve it:( Another question-when did u get banded & how much have you lost? I'm 5'3" and started at 228. I'm now down to 223...
  15. Just wondering if anyone has used Dr. Brian E. Lahmann MD?
  16. Ok, so I'm about 2 days out from being done with all the pre-work for the insurance company to decide if I'll be approved for surgery & I have a couple of questions:) 1-what is the first month after surgery like? What will I be eating/drinking? 2-3 months post what will I be eating? 3-6 months post what will I be eating? I'm trying to envision what my new lifestyle will be like to determine if I can really go thru with all of this!
