  1. Hi there, Banded 11/9/12 A few years ago I was put on Adderall for a few months, but discontinued after some unpleasant side effects. I hated the experience overall (it didn't help my concentration issues), but it was the only time in my life I was close to a healthy weight, because I was almost never hungry--except in the morning and after going all day forgetting to eat. For those who have been prescribed Adderall or similiar, I wonder--is the feeling of being in the Green Zone similar to that feeling of not being hungry? Or how would you compare the two feelings? I realize this is a silly question. Thanks for any insight.
  2. Thanks for the info, guys, but what about satiety? Does drinking right until you eat affect that?
  3. I kind of thought it was supposed to be gradual? From other people's experiences, I might be at the Green Zone at about 7.5 to 8 CCs, which is only 2 more fills. So I thought I'd feel *something* by now.
  4. After reaching the Green Zone, how often do you go back for fills to stay there--I'm thinking perhaps because of leaks and also because some Fluid naturally seeps out every month (or am I mistaken?) Also, I have 5 CCs in an 11 CC Realize-C band and I feel absolutely nothing. It's as if nothing at all happened. And I've been abstaining from liquids 30minutes to an hour before/after eating. Please tell me nothing is wrong with the band and that this isn't unusual.
  5. A friend and I are looking to join a support group in this area. Even if it's just a few people meeting for coffee...we really need this! We are struggling quite a bit. We are both mobile and can meet anywhere near these two areas. Please let me know if you'd like to join or if you know of an existing group. Thanks a lot.
  6. I have the realize-c 11cc band, and I was just wondering--to others that have the same band, how many CCs did it take you to get to the Green Zone?I know everyone is different, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
  7. Thanks for the replies, everyone! I love this site and how helpful everyone is.
  8. Isn't smaller meals spread throughout the day just a healthier way to live overall? I don't associate that advice with dieting tips necessarily...
  9. I've read that eating several small meals instead of 3 main ones can help keep your metabolism going, but my doctor says no snacking between meals. I'm thinking this is to limit the calorie intake, but is there another reason I'm not thinking of? For example, I think it would be better to eat 5 small meals of 250 calories each (1250 total) rather than 3 meals of 400 calories each. But maybe there's another reason for this rule...
  10. Thanks...I've been doing a lot of research about the incidence of slips and the numbers vary wildly--some say 3 percent, others say up to 25%. So it's been REALLY hard for me to determine how common slips are.
  11. How long are you supposed to wait between fills (if you are looking for more restriction)? Before the first fill, am I supposed to limit myself to 1 cup of food? Is there something wrong if I can eat more than a cup at a time? I'm also getting kind of paranoid about slips, since I am self-pay. Are most slips caused because of eating too much or are there lots of random factors that cause them--basically, is it in my hands whether or not I have a slip?
  12. How many ccs constitute an aggressive first-time fill? Also, on what day do you get to eat solids? For me, it's day 22. I'm just curious about patients at other clinics.
  13. Hi, Is anyone doing Atkins post-op? I find I've done a lot better on a high-Protein, low-carb eating plan than anything else. If so, what kind of modifications have you made? What Atkins friendly foods have you had trouble with? My doctor prescribed antacid for 2 months post-op...Does anyone know if this is on an as-needed basis or meant to be taken daily? Thanks in advance!
  14. I was banded 2 days ago by Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana. Everything went well. Right now I'm in bed in my hotel room at the Marriott, mentally preparing myself for a long journey back to Detroit tomorrow (I came alone). I've been reading that people with a support system are more likely to lose it and keep it off. I live in Detroit but am often in Chicago to visit my fiance. I'm looking for someone who has also been banded to meet up once a week or once every two weeks or so in either city for moral support. Things like switching recipes, talking about problems, and just encouraging each other over coffee, lunch, or dinner. I'm looking for a female under 35 with 40-100lbs left to lose. Does anyone know about support groups in these areas? I'm also looking for recommendations for doctors in these areas who do more aggressive fills with fluoroscopy. Thanks!
