  1. Greta job B52!! You're an Inspiration to those of us just beginning this journey!
  2. Well Charda that sounds great! I wish I could say the same but I'm hungry quite often but trying to power through it! But I am eating much smaller amounts which is fantastic! I have my post op follow up on Fri w the surg and nutritionist. I want to make sure I'm not going tb malnourished.
  3. Absolutely!! How are you feeling?
  4. Oh another question.. In reference to liquids has anyone tried concocting a milkshake of sorts with sugar free ice cream and 1% or skim milk? If so what ice cream or fro yo do you recommend!
  5. Congrats on the pregnancy!! One of the main reasons I decided to get banded is bc we have been TTC for 4 yrs wo success and dong an infertility work up my hubs and I were told all was ok! Really?!? So I went back to my old obgyn who took some hormonal bloodwork and confirmed pcos which explained so much in regards to the infertility and inability to lose weight. I tried chlomid and metformin and nothing.. While my cycle is regular I can almost bet that I'm not ovulating sooooo while I know banding isn't the miracle cure Im hoping the weight loss will reset the hormones and get all the ovulation gears in motion. I would love to lose 80-100 lbs and thats going to take some time but bc my clock is ticking were going to wait and start trying to conceive at years end. If it doesn't happen then well be ok with it and look at other options. I have nothing to lose at this point.. Just the weight!! And the only thing to gain is a whole new healthier me!
  6. Recently banded and a lil bit lost but will find my way quickly! Just wanted to wish everyone who has a future op date the best of luck!! I look fwd to going through this journey with all of you!
  7. I was just banded on May 3rd and am healing well. I don't have much discomfort except near the incisions and experiencing some gas. While I know we are recommended to stick with a liquid diet only I called the nutritionist the day after my surgery bc no matter how much broth, Jello, Popsicles and Protein liquids I was consuming I had no energy and still remained hungry. I know it sounds quite premature to call her after 24 hrs post op crying bout hunger but its a very new feeling! She suggested more protein, try shakes but that's it. This wknd I just added a little puréed Soups and hummus. I don't have any discomfort swallowing these foods such as nausea but I can feel the food going down to my esophagus and theres a bit of discomfort in that respect, which in turn causes gas. Though I eat and get full quickly (positive), I get hungry about every 2-3 hours...fm what I've read in other posts so far sounds like I need to increase protein ie shakes etc to curb the hunger and always more Water.. Right now I'm drinking Isopure and EAS shakes throughout the day. Another positive is that so far I'm not craving the heavier foods ie steak or burgers nor sugary foods.. And dairy seems quite daunting to try and consume. What have you guys done to get through the first week to stick with liquids? I have my follow up appt this fri and thought I wb getting my first adj that day but after some reading that doesn't seem likely. I'm anxious to not work backwards, my body is quite resistant to weight loss due to PCOS, so I'm quite nervous. When will I know it's time for my first adj? How long after surgery did you wait to get your first adj? I know I must be patient and I'm sure I will have many questions answered at my consult at weeks end but I thought I knew what to,expect and after joining this community an hr go I realize I have a ways to go to be educated!
  8. Congrats on your recent procedure! I was just banded May 3rd and I'm feeling better just hard for me to bend and my energy is low due to low food intake but I am hungry often.. So while 1/2 of my diet is on the liquids I've had to consume some purée or soft foods.. I know not recommended but I'm bout to search out a thread that addresses this issue. My point is that I can tell everyones journey is different and I empathize with your concern that I,hope this procedure will help in short and long term weight loss as I've always needed asst as well! Hang in there, get the rest you need and I'm Sure you'll feel better shortly!
