  1. Well, just want to add my two cents as well. I really enjoy this forum. I am not banded yet, so I feel I've learned "alot" from other people's experiences. For medical advice, obviously I'd go to my doctor. For practical, everyday information, questions, recipes, or just good old support and mutual words of encouragement, it's a great place. It's also a nice feeling knowing that you're not going through a tough journey alone. On that note, I hope Dislexi finds what he/she is looking for. Sounds like an unhappy person to me.
  2. Laurend, Congratulations on your presentation, I knew you'd do great! And now you have that one behind you. Cindy
  3. Krystal, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. Look at you, taking control with your eating and your excercise! You are such an inspiration. I haven't been banded yet, but will be in a couple of weeks. Keep up the great work and keep posting! I am praying right along with you. Cindy
  4. Courtneyjeter How great that you started on this journey with us. You'll do wonderful, especially since you want so much to succeed. As much as it seems so scary to me, I am also really, really excited to be starting my new life. Like you, (and probably most here), I've dieted before. When I say I've dieted, I mean DIETED!! I've tried them ALL it seems. They ALL work, I think any diet will, you just have to keep them up forever. That was my problem. But now I've got a new outlook, and greater hope because we're going to have this wonderful tool that was designed to HELP us help ourselves. We're not failures, we just need the tools to help us succeed with what we want for a new US. Good luck to you and welcome! Cindy
  5. Hi everyone. My date is May 10th, and the excitement is almost unbearable. The time, I'm told, will pass, but it seems to move so slowly! The surgery doesn't scare me so much, like you all are mentioning, it's AFTER the surgery that's a little daunting. Everyone seems to adjust really well, however, so I'm really positive about the whole thing. I'm just so used to eating so fast (I guess I'm always in a hurry), that it's just gonna have to be focus time to really pay attention. This band should really be great for portion control, which is another big one with me. So it will be re-learning HOW to eat as well as WHAT to eat. IT'S ALMOST MAY!!!
  6. Chrispygal, Thanks alot. I think it actually worked, I'm so excited. I guess it doesn't take much to excite me!! I just am not very computer saavy. Cindy
  7. Boy, sounds like all your ships have come in at once! For some reason my computer (or maybe it's me) is having problems, so you may get some form of this twice, sorry. Would it be possible for you to take this awesome sounding internship now, and schedule your surgery for a more convenient, less-stressful time. like December break or something? Just trying to help. We're all here for you. Cindy
  8. Yes, I created it on ticker factory, but then what?
  9. :help: I can't figure out how to get my ticker. I created it, but can't put it anywhere. Cindy
  10. Can anyone tell me how to put my ticker on?
  11. Rockn4u, you poor thing. How horrible. I'm not banded yet, May 10, but I've already started on the Centrum chewables. They are orange flavored. Not wonderful, but not too bad, either. They remind me of St. Joseph baby aspirin we took as kids (I know, I'm dating myself!). I also started taking the viactiv chocolate chewable calcium, yum. Hope that yucky taste leaves you soon. Good luck! Cindy
  12. Hi everyone, I am also a May bandster, May 10. I am very excited. Time is starting to move a little slow. My friend just had her band put in a week ago, so it's kind of cool to see things first hand, before actually doing it. She's doing great. I have 10 days of liquids only before surgery. That makes me a little nervous. Oh, well, it will be worth it.
  13. Nancy, congratulations on your date!! Mine is May 10th and it feels like it will never get here! I'm sure you'll do great, keep us posted!! Cindy
  14. Hi everyone. New here. I have a banding date of May 10th, it's so exciting. I just have a few questions. 1. What is "slime", and 2. what is "DH".Thanks so mucn Cindy
  15. Hi Breadlady, I am also fairly new and on my way to bandland. It IS scary, but the unknown often is. It will be an exciting journey for us to actually take actually do something good for ourselves, we deserve it, don't you think? Good luck with the research, I know you'll do what's best for you. Cindy
  16. Hey all. Everyone seems to be doing so awesome, it is really encouraging. I am SOOOO excited. I just got my date. It is May 10. It is with Dr. Adam Glasgow at Norwood Hospital. I did the psych eval, nutritionist, sleep study, letter from my PCP. My last step is a liquid diet for 10 days prior to surgery (I'm REALLY) nervous about that. My mouth (and tummy) are not going to like that one. But that's ok. From the sounds of all of you it will definitely be worth it. It doesn't sound like any of you had a 10 day liquid diet prior to surgery. Maybe it is just my particular surgeon. It's all about having the liver shrink I guess. My friend is having her surgery done 3/27. She is on the liquid diet and doing great so far! YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!
  17. Hey, can I ask a question? I'm new to this. What is PB?
  18. Hey fellow Massachusetts, I just got my date, it is May 10. I know, it seems SOOO far away. But I am very excited. Cindy
  19. Mike, Good luck on your journey, whatever you decide. It will be the right decision for you. I just made this decision within the last 6 months, so I'm not so much help yet. I just got my surgery date, however. It is May 10 and I'm so excited. Good luck to you. I just found this website recently and really enjoy reading it. It sounds very encouraging. Cindy
  20. Hey Threebeauties, so glad to hear someone had surgery with Dr. Glasgow! I haven't been able to attend a support group meeting yet, but I'm just happy to know they are there. I'd like to go to the next one, since everything is moving along now. Just awaiting that one test result, and hopefully get me date soon. I can't wait!! Hope to see you at a meeting. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I can tell already that I'll like this talk forum. Good to know there's a place to go for encouragement!!
  21. :help: Is it normal to feel anxious one minute, Excited the next, second guess your decision, then know that you're doing the right thing and excited again? I've thought long and hard about this and know I am making the right choice, but still my emotions go back and forth.
  22. Hi All. I'm also from Massachusetts and just starting proceedings. All I have left is to wait the results of my sleeptest. If all goes well, I'll be having my surgery at Norwood Hospital with Dr. Adam Glasgow. They have support meetings in their office an evening every month. One minute I'm very nervous, the next, I'm very excited!
  23. Hi. I'm also new in this process. Just waiting results from the sleep test. It's scary but at the same time exciting!
