  1. The gas pain was the worst of the side effects! The doctors office said unfortunately the Gas X strips won't always work since the majority of the gas is not in your stomach, but outside, around your diaphragm. I found myself walking two and three times a day, which really helped. Sorry for the pun, but this, too will pass. Good luck to you!
  2. Congratulations to you. I don't know that I could have waited that long without wanting to strangle something! Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I had my Realize band put in 8 days ago and feeling good.
  3. I'm exactly where you are! Don't you sometimes wonder why we didn't do this sooner?
  4. Good luck to you! You will be so glad you took this step. I had a Realize band put in a a week ago and I'm doing really well. I know you will be successful, too. Let us know how you are progressing.
  5. Hang in there! Mine was postponed twice. Like my doc said, sometimes the stars and planets have to be aligned just right. It's frustrating, yes, but it will happen, so hang in there!
  6. Good luck! You will be surprised at how soon you are feeling better. Mine was a week ago (Realize band). I was flip-flopping between Lapband and Realize and didn't decide until an hour before my procedure! Just follow all your doctor's advice, attend support meetings before and after and you will do very well!

Good luck! Mine went well and I wonder why I didn't do this before.
  8. I'm day 6 post op; got the Realize band and had a hiatal hernia repair. I've resumed normal activities except lifting. Get your stuff ready (Gas x strips, puddings, protein shakes, s/f beverages, etc.) The procedure itself was not as painful as I would have imagined. I only had to take pain meds twice. You will need to move around to help with gas pains -- those were the worst, but Gas X strips and walking helped. Also, make sure you get a RX for nausea medications for the date of your surgery. You don't want to battle that! Good luck!
  9. Good luck to you! By day 4, you're almost back 100%. It goes quickly. Let us know how it went.
  10. Hope your tests come back ok. I had a cyst and a hernia and had to undergo 2 endoscopies, so my date had to be postponed a couple of times. I wanted to cry each time. But just remember that the doctor has your health in mind. Also, my doc put me on a diet two weeks pre op so that my liver could shrink and harden up a bit. She said the risk of injuring your liver during the procedure decreases significantly, so I kep that in mind those two weeks pre op. Good luck to you!
  11. I'm 5 days post op (Realize band with one incision and hiatal hernia repair). You will def. be ready to go back to work in a week. Keep up with your shakes pre and post op. Also, some unflavored protein powder that you can mix into homemade freezer pops or soups, or add to Gatorade, etc. Also, I discovered that Lipton makes great Cream of Chicken soup in handy individual packets. Just make sure you strain it. You can eat this from day 2 on. Good luck!
  12. I'm 2 days post op and it's exactly the same for me! Please tell me it gets better with the shoulder and gas pains!
  13. I had the realize band on July 5th, so I'm 2 days post op. I was feeling much better than I expected, but the gas pains began yesterday. I'm walking, walking, taking gas x strips, and that is the worst part. Barely had anything to eat since op. Just not hungry and with the bloating it doesn't really want to go down. Pain is very minimal, only when I get in and out of bed or the coach. This is not bad!
  14. Had my Realize band put in yesterday. All went well, and thankfully no gas pains; Second day out and I'm just groggy and a little sore. How about you?
  15. Me, too (postponed from May 23 and now July 5)! Glad you've got the support now. Good luck to you and keep us posted.
  16. Can someone please tell me how to add those weight and BMI tickers to my posts?
  17. I had to have two endoscopies for pains; found out it was an ulcer, no biggie. They put an IV in your arm and you go to sleep very quickly; you are home in three hours and feel groggy for two days. You can do it! Just keep the end in sight! Good luck!
  18. July 5th for me! Mine was postponed from May 23rd, but I've got the green light now. Getting nervous, getting hungry on this pre op diet, but getting excited, too. Good luck to us!
  19. Keep us posted. I'm having mine on 5/23.
  20. I'm scheduled for 5/23 and have 5 lbs to lose in 11 days for my pre-op. I'm also freaking out that I may not get there. I'm doing the shakes, and a lean dinner. Wish me luck!
  21. This is such great advice. I'm not due for surgery until 5/23, but I feel better prepared after reading your posts. Thanks!
