  1. I had a few protein powders I liked before surgery. After surgery I hated them and all the others I tried. I went through so much money finding something that worked. Luckily, I have a store called Nutmeg State Nutrition near my home and I went there for help. They are online - as a matter of fact they have a banner on this site. They sell a gel drink called proti - it does have 1 sugar. The gel goes into 8 ounces of water and tastes like juice. There are several flavors to chose from and theyre all yummy! My cabinet is now stocked with them - They saved me! Good luck!
  2. Be careful with any food - You may feel great, but your new stomach is still brand new and needs time to heal! Good luck and congrats on your journey
  3. Stick to your guns and stay on your surgeons diet. He gave it to you for a reason! I did 24 days of clear liquids and there were so many points that I wanted to eat something, but I knew that I shouldnt.....so I didnt. This journey isnt only about food - It's also about knowing we can do something without giving up half way through. Dont give up before youve really begun. You can do it!
  4. Last spring I started walking and slowly progressed into some jogging. I completed 3 5k's and was loving it! No matter how much I exercised, I could never conquer my issue with food. In 6 months - and every night walking/jogging at the track- I was down 15lbs. I was totally discouraged. I stopped and started pursuing WLS. I couldn't lose any weight because I wouldn't qualify for surgery through my insurance. I put on more weight than I had anticipated - I was struggling so badly before surgery. I am 25 days post op and have been stalled for about a week. I am ok with it - I know it is normal. I am now back to the weight I was when I ran my last 5k in September - just not nearly as in shape! Tonight I am going to join the gym - I need to get back into shape and get ready for some road races this summer. I also need to learn the weights - the gym totally scares me though lol So tell me - What is your favorite work out? What works best? I'd love any extra input I can get.
  5. I deff read it somewhere and got paranoid!!! I am 24 days out and everyday I have a new question! Thanks for the support
  6. Hello! I am on soft foods this week and regular foods next week. I understand that tuna is high in protein and I plan on getting some, but ever since I was a kid I have eaten tuna with a little bit of sweet relish mixed in - Is this ok??? I keep seeing things that say no pickles or relish? I love both!!!! When can I have them?
  7. Can you please tell me what you used in your stir fry? I have been craving asian foods and I am 24 days out! Thanks
  8. Clear liquids lasted 23 days total and I started soft foods yesterday. My emotions have been all over the place and I cry at the drop of a hat now. This has been more mental than I could have ever prepared myself for.
  9. I have been craving raw veggies like it is no ones business!!! I also want to have a salad. I typically use spinach instead of lettuce. How far out were you when you had your first salad or raw veggie?
  10. That's the truth! I switched to mushies today and went grocery shopping last night - what a reality check!
  11. I just read that somewhere else! I'll have to try it!
  12. Hello I am onto soft foods as of tomorrow!! I understand that tuna is high in protein and I plan on getting some, but ever since I was a kid I have eaten tuna with a little bit of sweet relish mixed in - Is this ok??? I keep seeing things that say no pickles or relish? I love both!!!! When can I have them?
  13. You need to call your surgeon and get specifics - Doesnt sound right to me.
  14. The sugar from the powerade and Gatorade made me so nauseous. 22 days of clear liquids today - I can start mushies tomorrow and I'm terrified I'll be sick!
  15. I'll wait a few more weeks -
  16. I LOVE rice - even if just a little! How long after surgery can I have some??
  17. I don't plan on blending - ill chew a lot. Unless that's an issue.
  18. Hello all! Tuesday I am 3 weeks out and I can finally move from clear liquids to mushy foods. Can you all give me some of your favorite mushy foods so I can make a list for the grocery store? I walked into the store a few days ago for SF Popsicles and was so overwhelmed. So please help:)!!!
  19. I am 17 days post op and down 31lbs. I have been on a clear liquid diet since surgery and that has been the hardest part. I would not change my decision to have this surgery. It hasn't been easy and I have had many moments of tears, but I know I made the right decision. Luckily I do not have to cook for my kids and partner as she has done it all for me. I haven't touched a piece of food in 21 days - I had no idea how strong I could be. This has been a long and difficult journey, but if you are serious about your weight loss and want to get your life back - do it!!!
  20. I never even got full/thick liquids!! Clear liquids to mushies. I get mushies on Tuesday and I am nervous since I havent tried a thing! I did however have a Gatorade and the sugar made my belly feel sick. I have been craving meatballs and sauce for a week now.....I'll be mushing that up real soon hahaha I'm just ready to have the normal level of energy I was once used to again!
  21. I honestly do not remember very much from the recovery room. I remember waking up and seeing my Dad and Partner and then I feel right back to sleep. I then woke up and they were gone so I yelled at a nurse (I had no idea what I was doing hahaha), but fell right back to sleep. I felt NO PAIN in recovery. You are still hopped up on Morphine and everything else they have given you in surgery. I maybe remember 10 minutes total from the 4 hours I was in the recovery area. When you get to your room you will be more with it. The first night I was fine and the second day the pain set in from all the gas. It went into my shoulders and I could barely move. But by the next day I was ok to leave and all was well. Recovery at home was a bit of a challenge and at 17 days out I feel like myself and am back to work - Now if I could only get off the clear liquids I would be happy! Good luck and feel free to inbox me if you have anymore questions
  22. We basically have the same start weight and goal weight!! When were you sleeved? I was 3/13.
  23. Oh believe me I have checked! Clear liquids for 3 weeks directly to mushies for one week and then normal food the next. I somehow think that's going to be quite the shock to my system.
