1. I'm pretty excited so I just wanted to share. My surgery has been approved!!!! I'm so close now I can taste it. What's left........... well my pre-surgery class, surgeon appointment, vena cava filter placement (2 weeks prior to surgery) and then finally surgery! I can't wait to get my actual surgery date. It seems like it's been such a long road but I guess it really hasn't. The anticipation is enough to make you feel that way. They say my surgery will probably be sometime in the first 2 weeks of October. I'm down 20 pounds thus far and hope to do at least another 10-15 prior to surgery. Anyone else getting sleeved around that time?
2. Thanks so much guys for the responses! I am for sure doing the sleeve. To me it makes more sense and feels safer even though my BMI is high. I can't wait to get a surgery date! Sam, when did you have your surgery? I saw your starting BMI was higher also so I was just curious.
3. So......I'm new to the verical sleeve website. I complete all my pre-surgery counseling and requirements next Friday August 19th at which time I can submit to my insurance company and wait for my date. I'm very excited but nervous too. I have decided on the sleeve, even though it seems my surgeon would prefer me to have the bypass. I'm 29 and have no real health issues except for my weight and it confuses me that in my situation he would think the bypass would be better than the sleeve. I do have a very high BMI of 60.1 so that is why he says the bypass would be more successful. I'm just curious to if anyone else out there has encountered this issue with their surgeon and also decided on the sleeve.
