Getting Close But Wont Hold My Breath
Nikki08: Im I the exact same spot as you are. Im doing this for health reasons but on the fun side I cant wait to NOT WEAR BLACK, and fit into my 2 closets full of cute clothes. Im going to Vegas in July and truly want to dazzle!!!! But, again, the main reason is for my health.....

Juicing
If you havent already seen the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, make an effort to. It's streaming free on NetFlix. It's a great weight loss story of 2 men thru juicing. There is also a Facebook page under the same name where you will get a wealth of information and recipes. Good on you for juicing as a meal or snack!

Old Age With Band
Thank you everyone. I guess the point of my question was about dealing with the band long term and not just the immediate rewards of weight loss in the first 1-2 yrs. Example, being 70+ and still dealing with being stuck and all the restricted foods. But I guess when you reach goal you can have it unfilled and life goes on and the only difference is you have this band inside you. Several of you brought the point home that we are doing this to ensure we reach our senior years, happy and healthy. Point well taken. It reminded me this is exactly why Im having the surgery. Thank you.

Old Age With Band
I hear ya B52. Im 57 and beginning to have obesity related issues. Just told I have peripheral nueropathy and diabetes is knocking at my door. Dont have it yet, but the numbers are getting there. Just 5 yrs ago I was so active and the weight is really slowing me down these days where Im not exercising like I used to.

Old Age With Band
When you were considering the band, did any of your thoughts/consideration go to when you are 60, 70, 80 yrs old and how life would be with the band?

Stuck On Getting Stuck
Here I go again, asking a question on getting stuck. I just cant get passed this and I KNOW if I cant, it will be the reason I dont follow thru with the surgery. I realize that not getting stuck is pretty much in our hands. It's how and what we eat that will cause it. Still, I'd like to know, how many times per week or month would you say you get stuck? Is it a common occurance that you just comes with the band or is it a "do it one time and you'll never do it again" sort of thing? Thank you.

Run My Life! What Should I Do?
Im in the exact same spot you find yourself in. I started this last Feb, post poned it for awhile to be sure it's what I want/need and Im now on track for surgery in March sometime. it is scary. I am mad at myself for getting to this point. Im competitive enough to keep saying I can do it on my own, but cant seem to get it done. I lost 80# 6 yrs ago. Why cant I do it now? Im 57 and beginning to develop obesity related issues such as joint pain, pre-diabetes, peripheral nueropathy. LB is a permanent change in your body and lifestyle.

Alcohol
Vodka is 60 cal per shot, I believe. The lowest of hard liquor.
-
Alcohol
Were any of you moderate drinkers before banding and either 1) stopped drinking after lapband or 2) continue to drink after banding.

Restriction
Thank you Elcee and B52. Always enjoy reading your posts. You are both always " right on" with your advice.

What's Your Food Of Sin?
B-52, you can eat tortilla chips without getting stuck? I thought chips might be in the same category as bread and would expand.

Restriction
Thank you everyone. Im really having a hard time with the "getting stuck" issue. It scares me to death and is the only thing that may keep me from going through with this. Although Im 57, the thought of thinking about getting stuck everytime I put something in my mouth bothers me. Send any words of wisdom my way, please.

Restriction
Elcee, thank you very much! Another question for you. I have a bad habit of eating very fast and furious! i am trying to retrain myself prior to surgery, to eat slower and chew, chew, chew. Im guessing that after the band every meal must be eaten very slowly and with much thought. Is this accurate? I dont see eating "on the go" as an option as you may not chew good enough and thus get stuck, etc... Your comments, please. Thank you.
