Calcium Supplements Help Needed

Had my surgery on Tuesday, home yesterday. Doing remarkably well, thanks be to God. I had decided (why I can't recall) to go with powdered Calcium Citrate rather than chew-ables-----BIG mistake--it would be fine if I could drink 1/2 cup of Water in one mouthful but not good with just little sips. Wondering what chew-able calcium supplement people are using and liking. I need to either order them on line or get out and get them because I won't be able to continue with the powder. Thanks!

I bought viactive chewable last night, but I read that anyone who has had surgery like us should stay away from calcium bicarbonate because it needs acid from stomach to activate and we won't absorb it as well as calcium citrate. Is that true?

I tried the bariatric caramels, hated them. My husband got me some "mini" calcium tablets at the store, they might as well be horse pills :(. I just ordered some cinnamon dissolvable pills from bariatric advantage. Hoping for the best!

I have been doing the bariatric advantage chewable is chocolate. They are disgusting today is my first day and every time I eat one I'm disgusted. These are not the chewy ones I winder if those would be different. Sadly I bought a big container. Yukkkk

I just had my 1st post op and I asked the same question. She recommended citrical gummies that you can get at WG

I bought the petites too...not very petite for sure.

I use the bariatric advantage calcium citrate chewy bites. I have raspberry, lemon, caramel, and chocolate and I really like them. If you want to pm me I can put a few in an envelope and drop them in the mail to you so you can try the flavors before you buy them? Good luck finding something you like!

Any kind of chocolate chews that you buy in the store are not calcium citrate. We don't absorb calcium carbonate. Check the label. If it says calcium cabronate, your body is absorbing little or none of it.

I think the only place you can get the chocolate chews in calcium citrate is at Bariatric Advantage. I also get the choc/pb because they have 500 mg in them, the most you can absorb at once.

Wellesse makes a liquid calcium that's palatable and is sold at Walmart. I ordered the lemon flavor Calcet from Amazon and really like them. They're like a little bite of lemony dessert.
