Fitbit

I am considering buying a fitbit. Because it's a 100 dollars, I wanted to get some opinions on it. Does anyone on here have one? If so, what is your experience with it? Has it helped with your fitness goals? I know there is also the bodybug, but I would rather have the fitbit because it connects with myfitnesspal and I am an avid user of that app. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

I LOVE MY FITBIT! I call it Fittie. A tip: It's sold through Amazon and if you put it in your cart and check mid week, the price may go down to $90. That's how much I got it for and free shipping.

  • I cant not tell you how much I LOVE my Fitbit. I even went for the premium option as I love the reports it gives you. It keeps me moving and has increased my activity level like I could never imagin

  • I also love my fitbit, I carry it wherever I go. It is a great motivator and really tells you how you are doing with your activity and sleep. Also it now works with MyFitnessPal.com so you can log i

What is fitbit?

Go to fitbit.com. It's like a pedometer, but better.

can someone tell me, does all the food info carry over from myfitnesspal, or just the calories? does that make sense?

I synced mine up between myfitnesspal and fitbit.com with the help of friends on this website. The food you eat does not carry over to fitbit.com, but it breaks down your calories, fat, all those thing you want to look at, just not the specific foods you ate. I entered food on myfitnesspal and went directly to fitbit.com and it was already there, so once you've linked your accounts, it's apparently automatic.

Thanks everyone for your response! So I'm guessing what everyone is saying is that if I bring my laptop (which has the fitbit program downloaded) around with me, plug the station in, it will update? It doesn't have to be connected to wifi? That doesn't make sense to me....but okay! I know the program is a necessity because I tried putting it on it's station on my work computer and it didn't work. I can't download the program on my work computer so I'm out of luck. I figured everything else out after a couple of days using it. It's really hard for me to get to 10,000 steps. I've only done it 1 out of 4 days. Ooppss.

i got my fitbit two weeks ago and i love it! although i have not been very active it is motivating to log my weight and glucose measurements! i think it is a steal for all that it does...it also sends you emails with badges that you earned from meeting milestones such as number of steps and flights of stairs! i have been printing them out and hanging them up:)

Ahhhhhh, I understand your question now. You don't need to have wifi to use and sync the fitbit, but you do need to have an internet connection to get to the website. You won't be able to access your data on a computer unless you are somehow connected to the internet, be it through wifi or cords. Hope this helps a bit more. Also, you can change the goals so you can work your way up to 10,000 steps. smile.png

I don't really care about the website (I have the app on my phone). I just care about syncing it. And to clairfy, I DON'T need wifi to SYNC the fitbit? Just my computer and the station right? Sorry...still a little confused lol.

LOL, don't be sorry! You don't need wifi but you may need some sort of internet connection. I'm going to test it tonight as I have it on my phone as well as my laptop. I will turn off the internet to my laptop, put my fitbit on the base and then check my phone to see what happens. I'll let you know what I find out.

How do you link the account {myfitnesspal & FitBit}? I just got mine yesterday and trying to figure it all out. Unfortunately there's no manual in the box although I can pull it up online, however, that takes time. Also no customer service # on the website to call. I submitted a request online but that can take a few days. I'm veklempt! :-)

Sign in to myfitnesspal and then click on the tools tab. Near the top on the right it shows a picture of a couple of fitbit ultras and says learn more about fitbit ultra in blue letters. Click on that and it takes you to an area where you can link both together. Keep in mind when logging on fitnesspal it only shows a meal summary on the fitbit site. It does transfer the calories, Proteins, carbs etc, but it doesn't list each individual food eaten. smile.png

Sharilo, thank you so much. After reading your reply, I recalled that you answered this previously on here but didn't realize it until now. My mind is go crazy between the two accounts and also setting them up on my Droid. With perseverance, and support from you and others on here I will get it! Besides, it keeps my mind off of food. LOL

Yeah back, Elizabeth! Glad you got it and it's all working for you. Give me time to figure out how to sign you up as a friend on there too! I'm a child of the 60's and still learning all this modern technology. No kids in the house to teach me. Other then google, texting, emailing, etc. I take a little longer figuring things out. I did download "myfitnesspal" to my droid as well as lapbandtalk as well. I'm having fun playing with this new "toy" and watching the progress even if its the first day! :-)

I got mine today, it won't charge or sync up to computer... Maybe its a bad one. Guess ill have to exchange it and wait for another one to show up. So frustrated!

Ok, I did a bit of a test last night. I couldn't see my stats on my phone until the fitbit synced to the computer through the internet. It somehow has to get to the website for it to get to your phone as the phone app and web app work hand in hand. Do you have internet at home? I'm only able to sync mine while at home so during the day I just look at the device itself to see how I'm doing. I'm sorry if this isn't clear or answering your question. I hope it helps a little. unsure.png
