Confused & Worried

the first 2 weeks after surgery were fine...I lost 23 lbs......now I am in my 3rd week and I am hungry all the time and have gained 2 lbs back....the ounce of food 3 times a day and protein drinks and water don't get me full. I have that rumbling in my tummy saying feed me.....and it is not in my head....although I do get a headache if I don't eat something.....I don't understand why, I thought that hungry feeling would go away atleast for a little while....even after I eat I feel hungry...I am worried that something else is wrong.....could I have a leak or something worse?? What am I doing wrong? I shouldn't feel like I am hungry especially right after I eat....

The first three weeks(food) are NOT FUN. I felt hungry all the time too. When you get to the next food stage it will be better. Drink LOTS of sf fluids.

That's amazing that you've lost so much wait. How long has it been since the surgey?

8/24/2010 I had bypass, 30 days later I had complications and passed 2 units of blood, then had 120 days of slow recovery from blood deficient enimia. I wouldn't change anything, it made me respect my tiny tummy that much more!

I had surgery on May 2. I never get the hungry or full feeling. I just force my aelf to eat a little. I cant even eat a whole egg. I started on puree a week ago and am gaining instead of losing. I am discourged and frustrated right now.

I had my surgery 8/24/2010 and still never feel hungery or full, I see it as a blessing. Food no longer controls my life.

All the best to you!

I'm doing better but yes' date=' I am hungry....I am able to eat 1.5 oz of protein and fruits and veggies now so I had a slice of pinapple this morning and one this afternoon and that helped allot. I have lost more weight, a total of 27 lbs as of Monday. I think I was sick with a cold before and that is why I thought I felt hungry when really it was a stomach virus....I am better now except I have always got migraines and I seem to have to take a migraine pill every day (normally around 4 or 5:00 in the afternoon) and I think that is from being tired and hungry....yes, this diet is very hard, but we can do it! I had my surgery on 4/18 so I am 4 weeks out today. When was your surgery and how are you doing?[/quote']

You don't seem to be eating enough protein. You should be eating 3-4 oz per meal. Could be why you're hungry. Have you tried protein shakes? Ensure High Protein has 25 grams & are pretty good. I would add more protein & see what happens. I also lose more when I've eaten all my meals & not skipped. My surgery was May 1 & I'm down 19 lbs. just starting to exercise.
