Cut your calories to 800-1200 calories a day and workout regularly. No sodas, junk food, high carb, calories or fat foods. Until then you will not lose weight because u are eating like an unbanded person. The band is a tool, not a miracle, use it too ur advantage. Protein is always first, it keeps u full longer. Goodluck.

No have not been told that before but yes i have been getting bills from all over the place. This surgery actually cost more than what i was told. I have received bills for physician again paid $276 before surgery got a bill now owe almost $400 more. Anesthesia $414, Radiology to check band placement $28.40 hospital stay total $ 200 paid, and $700 to true results, sleep study $113, pcp stress test $600 and thats so far and I have UHC. I am losing weight just wish i was honestly told what this would have cost upfront. Goodluck.

I was told zero calorie soda is okay, but I steer away from sodas. Not because I don't think I can have it, but because I don't crave it. I drink vitamin waters, hawiian sf punch in all flavors, tea, coffee, and water. On occasion I have a non-fat frappe at least once a month. I don't like junk food any more but all of this takes time, you will get there.I craved coke zero once took one sip and was done. Like some on here has said they let the carbonation die down first. Each doc is different and more research has been done on the band. If doc says no avoid it he's the one doing your surgery. I dont penalize myself, if the day comes when I want a chip, soda, or candy, I will. I will not eat whole bar but satisfy craving and I have the will power to do that, its all about being in control. The reason we have gotten here is no self control, I have learned that with the band and its easier now to just say no. Good luck.

I do slimfast 321 high protein (20g)/low carb/180 cal/fat 9g. My doc recommends this one not the regular one and it taste good. I have whey protein also but like the slimfast better and I do 30g fat daily/600-800 cal/40-60 carbs if that.

ready4changein2011 got a reaction from msdv in Fill Am I Too Tight
I was instructed to return if I had any heartburn, means band too tight but I'm doing ok. I had my first fill and I think I have good restriction. I am concerned that I'm eating only 2 meals a day takin in only between 600-800 calories w/a protein shake. Also sometimes at meal time I can look at food and be full, or take one bite and be full. Dont have any heartburn, diff swallowing or vomiting and I'm tolerating all types of food. Am I in the green zone? Is this normal?

Congratulations! My best advice would be to follow your doctors orders!!! So mNy people seem to think they should "test" their band those first few weeks. It's best to take things slowly allowing your band to heal and settle in your stomach, then begin the journey of fills and losing the weight. This procedure is not meant to lose weight rapidly, but to lose slowly and steadily. Wishing you great success on your journey!

Are you getting your fills? Are you taking in enough water and protein in? How many calories are you taking in a day? It appears that you are on track with your exercise. If you have no restriction more than likely you are eating how and what you want. I cant say if you are on a plateau, because I'm not sure how long they normally last. You are not a year out yet, I would not give up so easily. I would check my diet to see if there's something that I may need to change. I would schedule a fill with my physician and talk to my nutritionist. Yes, I agree some lose weight faster than other but we must not compare cause we are all different. And yes we want the weight to come off over night but it does not work like that. The band is a tool and we have to learn how to utilize it, so that it works for us. What works for you does not mean it will work for me. Stop worrying about what others think this adds pressure to what you are already going through. In life some people want you to fail, but I'm determined to not give them the satisfaction. You made the decision to do this for you and you can do this. Stay encouraged, attend lapband support groups in your town, continue to workout, and most importantly see your physician and let him/her know so they can get you to the green zone. Goodluck on your continued journey into a healthier, happier you. We are here for you. Wishing you success.

I am one month out according to doc I can have pasta and bread in moderation. They gave me a dvd with everything I can eat, how much, quantity and quality. I can have starches but they dont like you too because it has no real nutritional value. I can say that the only thing I have eliminated from my diet is beef to hard to break down. I dont eat it pasta or bread daily, had it once last week. I can also have any zero soda, I was suprised that I can have soda. I eat like i'm suposed to, right now I'm only eating 2 full meals a day since fill last week, and I feel great. I do need to beef of the workout. Good luck

    Hi Lisa,
I am recently banded and I can say its the best decision I could have made. Im down 29.2 lbs. Been losing 7-8 lbs a week, I know I will eventually slow down to maybe 2 lbs a week. But can truly say I'm loving my band. To be banded is a very personal decision, like most of us we have tried everything else. On a personal note with the health issues I have, i needed to have this done. Its so amazing to not feel hungry all day. The hardest thing for me was the pre/post-op diet, not because it was not doable but because I got bored of the same foods, but I survived and so has others. Im eating mushies now and feeling great. There is a lot of support here utilize it. We are here for you. What seems to be depressing you after the class?

I did it and got approved my first submission. Having surgery next friday. Goodluck do like we did, use it as a learning tool before your band. Don't be too concerned about weight loss, unless required by your insurance. My Dr used my first weigh in for the insurance, I have UHC.

I did'nt get hunger pains like that but if your shake is whey based some people have trouble with the lactic acid. Also your body is used to probably 3000 calories a day and you've but it done to 1000 or less; it's going to revolt.

Firstly you are in the zone of bandster hell.. u have a relatively normal appetite and not much restriction. I am surprised that you werent told that until u reach your full restriction the weight might well be slow in coming off. The only way u can really lose weight whilst in this zone is to, in a sense, diet.. which in reality means you have to burn more calories than u are eating .. you have to maintain your water input and proteins and look for foods that give a full feeling for longer and try not to go back to old eating habits. If you are hungry then look to a few more snacks of low calorie high protein ones or something like sugar free jello or sugar free sweets. I am lucky that i continued to lose weight throughout this process but i know it is unusual for some for this to happen. I did however stick with 1000 calories a day and exercise my rear end off ... the band really only started to take full effect around my 5 th fill which was 5 months post op. Just dont get discouraged and give up on things, in banster terms u both are still are some way off getting the full effects .. give it time and patience and do what you know u need to and the weight will eventually come off .....
Would you not have put weight on over these last couple of months if you didnt have the band fitted, especially with christmas ...
