I’m scheduled for 4/8. Would love a support buddy going through pre-op liquid diet and surgery around the same time for support :)

  • Surgery twins! I’m having RNY bypass, how about you? Today is day 1 of my 3 week pre-op liquid diet.

  • It’s going! Lol Day 4 down. It’s mentally challenging more than anything. With all of the protein shakes I can’t say I’m overly hungry or anything but I do miss chewing. Jello and chewing ice pops hav

    Hi I could use a buddy too. My surgery for sg is scheduled 4/5. Excited and nervous! My doc office has not been the best at relaying all the info and I am a little overwhelmed at all of the appts.

I’m home, still trying to adjust to the fact that 2- 3 sips of anything makes me full. Still bloated and have abdominal discomfort, but it was easier to get out of bed today. Thankfully no nausea or vomiting.

Good!! Im glad you were able to move around! How often are you sipping? They were telling me every 15 mins but,, there is no way!! My incision pain is minimal its just the dang vomiting...I hate it ?? but, hopefully ill bust out this joint soon!!

Hope soon!! They recommended 1 oz. every 15 min. It’s harder than I thought it would be! My stomach literally says NO, which is great because my problem was always eating too fast.

That would be me 4/8. Nice to meet you

Sent from my SM-G930VL using BariatricPal mobile app

Nice to meet you as well I had a hard time figuring this app out so I am sorry it took so long to get back to anybody just remember guys keep your eyes on the prize. I'm a little surprised that I'm losing 1 to 2 pounds a day I didn't think I would lose it that fast

My bypass was scheduled for April 21 and I was doing my pre-op diet... then today I got a call from the surgical scheduler, all surgeries have been cancelled due to the COVID surge here in Michigan. ? Honestly, I get why it had to be done but I've been waiting six months for this, I was mentally prepared, and had work time-off all arranged... I'm tempted to drown my sorrows in pizza!

Hey everyone how are you all doing?

@KidaandRoux how are you feeling?

@GingersnapMI I’m sorry to hear about your surgery being cancelled! I hope they reschedule soon once the Covid cases clear ???? Stay strong. I know how frustrated you must feel!!

I’m 9 days Post Op now and about to start the purée stage tomorrow. My stomach and I are very ready for it lol trying to decide what my first food in 4 weeks will be!

I’m a little surprised at how easy it was for me to get fluids and supplements down since surgery when I hear most have nausea and vomiting issues. I almost wish I did because I don’t want it to be too easy to overdo it and fall back into the same routine of overeating once I start foods. I’m going to have to be very strict with myself and measuring out portions. I’m down 11 pounds since surgery and 28 total since the start of the pre-op liquid diet.

Hydration has been my focus so I downloaded this app called WaterMinder. I set a reminder every 5 min and it goes to my Apple Watch reminding me to take a sip of water. Really helpful for someone like me who forgets to drink when I’m focused on other tasks. It’s been helping me reach my 48-64 oz daily goal.

Hope you’re all doing well! Please feel free to share any tips and tricks that have been working for you!

Good luck to all whose surgeries are coming up and are starting their pre-op diets!
