When did you return to work?

Hi everyone :)

I don't lift things at work, but I do walk a lot - about 12,000-14,000 steps at work each day. my surgery is on a Monday, Aug 9th, and i plan on going back to work on Wed, Aug 18th (a little over a week later). In your opinion, is that enough? My doctor says if I don't feel well, he'll ok an extra week off, but I really can't afford to be off work that long, so I'm hoping one week is enough. I was just wondering how long some of you were off post-op. Thanks!

I have not had my surgery yet, but I am going to ask my Dr. opinion.I am a licensed vet tech (Basically a nurse for animals) and at times it can get very physically. I mean usually I am not the one restraining the animals, but I do occasionally. I mean I can tell them I can't lift the dogs or restrain the wild ones for a little bit. But I am on my feet for 10 or more hours per day. So I think I would aim for a week, but like I said, I will ask my dr's opinion

I find all this amazing. I was banded a week ago and don't feel all that great. I work at Lowe's so I can't go back for a month. (there aren't any light duty jobs there!). I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the time of the lapband. Also I had my gallbladder removed 5 weeks before. Too much? Maybe so after reading all the other posts. Thanks for all the posts though, I am trying to keep my spirits up.
