  1. If it sounds to good to be true...it is. I know from experience, don't waste your money!
  2. I asked and my doc said he always gives out copies. I even got a copy of my first Fluro check. (make sure the band was sitting properly and such)
  3. Dablockz, What's your docs name? I need a doctor who does fills in mass...do you know if he takes internationally banded patients?
  4. Thank you Jim!!!! Much appreciated.
  5. I got my lap band in India and wanted to know if anyone knew of any doctors in the Mass/New Hampshire area that does fills for foreign patients. I am also self pay and was wondering how much it would run me per fill. Thanks everyone!
  6. I'm day 9 and mine is pretty much gone. Once in a while my left side feels a little tight and I'm a little sore but that's it. Are you taking the gas x strips still? Hope it gets better soon!!
  7. So without your aerobics class included, (since I don't know how many calories that is), you net 400 calories before you eat back any of your exercise calories. Lets say you eat another 3-400 calories out of the 800 you burned while doing laps, so you have a total caloric intake of 800 max? maybe that's not enough calories and your body is going into starvation mode (anything you eat, your body will store as fat, since it believes you are starving it). If you are suppose to eat 1800 calories that is 1000 calories less then what you are meant to have. Now, i'm taking random figures, I don't know how many calories you actually end up with, but being overly rigorous can hurt you as well as being lazy can. Or it could just be a plateau. Like so many people seem to have. Anyways, good luck!!
  8. 8th day and I finally laid on my left side!!!! Well it was more like night of the 8th morning of the 9th! But you get my drift!! Didn't hurt but I was still aware to not make any sudden moves
  9. I have the realize band but I am only 8 days post op so I can't really say much besides the fact that I chose the realize band because it is more forgiving and it has one fill pillow vs a few pillows.
  10. I know how you feel Kallets. My day 6 felt more like day 2 and I was so frustrated but I just look at the thousands of people on this forum and I know it will get better, no one seems to be living in constant pain so that's all that I am holding onto for now.
  11. Oh Donna I feel your pain, literally! Basically in the same boat as you. I hope you feel better soon!

    I second Dox!
  13. Ouch, well hopefully its just gas! Correct me if I am wrong but was it your doctor that allowed you to go mushies 5 days post op. I am almost on my 6th day, and I am SO SICK OF LIQUIDS. I asked my doc and he said absolutely not because of losing weight not because of not healing properly. But I am starving for something to chew on. I enjoy chewing by gas tablets. It is so sad.
  14. Ha, I am the last person to say this because I am such a newbie, but maybe the bands too tight since you say you just got a fill and can barely eat? I use to get those sharp pains before surgery too, I thought they were heart related but after a 2D echo-cardiogram I found out my heart is fine. It could be gas?
  15. Haha, I guess I was pretty thorough, for the stage I am at right now.
  16. Thanks scorpiolady! All your answers are much appreciated You have lost 12 of the 50 pounds you need to lose and I think thats amazing! Can't wait to start losing. Right now I feel like a swollen pumpkin
  17. Hello everyone, I was banded on June 13, and I am currently 5 days post op. I just keep getting these random questions in my head and figured who better to answer them then my fellow lap banders! 1. Is there any specific foods you can't eat because you can't tolerate them? (not because they aren't good for you) 2. Very random, and may sound stupid, but can you do all the rides at amusement parks, I mean before the band my tummy use to feel all funny (in a good way) so just wondering because I love park rides! 3. After reaching your goal weight, have any of you thought to either completely unfill your band, or have it removed voluntarily to avoid future issues? (erosion, slippage etc) 4. Is there something I should be asking that I am not, or something that you never thought about that you couldn't or weren't able to do? 5. Is there anyone who didn't have to get a fill ever? I mostly see people with anywhere from 4-6 fills, and I am self pay and that cost just freaks me out. 6. After getting a fill, how long are you on the liquid diet again? 7. As of now it is very painful and uncomfortable to cough, let alone throw up, so anyone who has vomited is it painful, or just how it use to be before getting banded. I am terrified of throwing up! 8. What exactly is a PB, I know it stands for 'productive burp' but what does that mean?!? 9. What is slime or sliming? Sounds nasty. I would be so embarrassed if that happened at a restauraunt...I think? 10. Is there anyone else who only had around 50-55 lbs to lose? At what rate did you lose your weight? And what was your diet and exercise routine? I think that is all I can think of right now! Thank you fellow bandsters!
  18. 5 days post op and it kills to lay on my left side. I can lay on my right with a pillow to hug. Try laying on your right? Some people told me they had to lay on their back for the first week or so.
  19. Fantasy. You are so darn lucky. You never JD it could be as easy as it was for Fantasy. But good things don't come easy. From these forums, atleast I don't feel alone, otherwise I think I would panic about everything.
  20. Donna, our issues are exactly the same. Probably because we were both banded on the same day. The back pain is horrible and my whole left side aches. I walk and yet no gas passes. I am drinking skim milk and so far have had only 2 very small BM's since day 2. (Day 2 I had diarrhea :-/). Anyways, I am just trying to live it out day by day waiting for it to get better. Keep in touch and let me know if it gets any better for you and any tips you may have, and I will vice versa!
  21. Kallets! I thought I was the only one. My stomach makes such loud noises that last forever. ( I am also 3 days post op) I was worried if its because I am not consuming enough. I get full easily even with just water my chest starts to tighten up, so its hard to get any protein down. Hope it improves soon for the both of us!
  22. I had mine on June 13, so we are basically in the same boat! Yes, currently I feel horrible, I keep thinking whyyyy?? and why isnt it getting easier quicker. But all things take time. Can't do anything about it now, so I keep trying to look at the future and just take it day by day. I am one day ahead of you and believe me day 2 IS THE WORST!
  23. BreBre, I feel your pain, I just had surgery on June 13 and I keep asking myself why did I do this to myself. From every post I have read though it seems to get better, I have been craving something that I can chew on every minute of every day. Its horrible. And I totally feel the same way. I am also self pay so it makes if even tougher that I poured all that money into this and now I feel such regret. Besides thinking that it will get better, we have nothing else. Just hold on to the hope that it gets better. Thats all we can do.
  24. thanks ready4change2, it feels good to know you aren't alone in the way you feel!
