New Pre-Lap Band

Hi,

I just joined the forum and thought I would take this oppertunity to introduce myself.

I'm from wisc near the illinois border. Have been researching WLS for about 2 years now and finally decided the band was the best option for me. Now just trying to find an experienced local surgeon that does the band.

Stepping back in time...

I have been overweight since about age 6 and considered obese since age 13. I have been on every diet out there including some pretty crazy ones that I came up with myself, as well as WeightWatchers, TOPS, Jenny Craig etc... you get the drift and every time I'd lose weight but only end up gaining it back and then a few more pounds, well eventually those few more pounds add up.

At this point I am just begining the real part of this journey, but I hope to be on the losing side soon.

Welcome to the Website!!

I'm still in the pre-band process - awaiting the okay from UnitedHealthCare. Dr. Engstrand from The Elmbrook Clinic is the one my PCP recommended; he has a good reputation, as well as the other docs on their staff. There are other bariatric doctors and clinics in the area but I don't know anything about them.

Good luck on your journey. May you soon be a happy loser!
