Stricture...or early days

Recommended Posts

Guest

Last day or two I've had some issues keeping food down comfortably. I'm not talking about a t-bone, two crisps this morning and I felt like dying and had to induce vomiting. However I just had two tablespoons of hummus and it's sitting ok. I spoke to my surgeon and he said people heal at different rates and possibly solid food is too much for me at the moment or I have a stricture. But they specifically said to me: eat what you want just chew well. 6 weeks out. What do you think?

it could be that your stomach just isn't ready to progress in the diet, so you might have to stay with soft or pureed foods for an extra week or two and then try again.

OR...yes - it could be a stricture, since you're in the right time frame for one. If it gets harder and harder to keep things down (and if it keeps progressing without intervention, at some point you won't even be able to keep fluids down), then it's probably a stricture. But the first one is probably more likely (i.e., your stomach isn't really to progress quite yet). If you're still having trouble in another week or two, then I'd contact the clinic again - they'll probably schedule you to have an upper endoscopy to see what's going on (and to "fix" the stricture if there's one there...)

Thanks. I've convinced myself it's a structure to be honest but in any case I'm turning up at the surgeon's office tomorrow morning and tell him to do something. He was the one who told me to have ham on toast, which even I thought was going a bit far. Now I'm having an issue with tuna salad! The thing that makes me think it's a stricture is that it's gotten worse in the last two days. I appreciate your response, thank you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
