what is a stricture

What were your symptoms? How is this repaired? Is It a major surgery? Any info. Will be helpful. I am newly banded and everything I eat feels like it is stuck in the back of my throat. Fish, chicken Salad, scrambled eggs, avocados, etc. I have notified my doctor but I will call today and move my appointment to tomorrow instead of next week. I have felt this since day 3 of being banded. I am at 4 weeks today. I Told him and he did a barium and he said it was perfectly placed. How is a stricture diagnosed? Can you see this on a xray?

A stricture is a narrowing. You didn't say where it was, but I'm guessing you esophagus. Problems would be difficulty swallowing food. To fix it they could probably use an endoscope with something with a balloon type thing and expand the balloon to open up the stricture. I know we had a dog with an esophageal stricture once and they had to do that a few times to get it to stay opene
