I was told to eat 60 g of Protein a day and drink about 64 oz of liquids. I strictly limit carbs, only having a slice of toast or a few crackers once or twice a week. On the soft diet I ate, scrambled or soft boiled eggs, tuna, cottage cheese, yogurt, oatmeal, which has surprisingly protein. Also, refried Beans and chili, Wendy's chili is good and you can get a small container for about $1.50 and it's good for about 3 meals!
    Good luck.

eating the mac N cheese didn't kill me, i'm still around to write about it

Hello Sleevers...well today I'm 7days post op and im feeling great. My follow up appt with surgeon is tomorrow. I have been taking my vitamins regularly and meds when needed. I do not have much stomach pain anymore. I'm happy about that. I don't have much of an appetitie and when I do eat its only a lil bowl of creamy soup using my 2yrs old's toddler bowl. Lol. I get full really quick. I am trying to keep up with my liquids. Its so difficult because I want to gulp it down but I can't lol. As far as the protein shakes....I haven't really been drinking them. They are disgusting and they give me horrible gas lol. I'm sure my doctor will go over my diet with me again but right now the crystal light, water, creamy soups, applesauce, sf jello, and sf pudding works fine for me. I did try a piece of a french fry and a hamburger pattie(both the size of my fingernail) but I had no desire for it. Yay!!!! How are u guys doing? Sending happy thoughts and prayers to everyone:-)

    Hello everyone!
Again I would just like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers. I am glad to have finally gotten the surgery aspect over with, although the journey is just beginning. For anyone with upcoming surgeries, I pray for equal or better results than I had for you.
I did have to stay in the hospital an additional day due to my inability to keep anything down. I was in a serious state of nausea which depressed the heck out of me. I got so scared like, "I know I am not going to have to go through this for the rest of my life! Did I make a horrible mistake? LORD JESUS!" However, my wonderful surgeon Dr. Lisa Dobruskin and the excellent nurses at RWJ Hospital in Hamilton, NJ came up with an awesome cocktail of meds which reduced the swelling in my stomach, placed a patch behind my left ear, and knock out that nausea. I have heard of ladies having morning sickness throughout their full term of pregnancy and now I so feel for them. Not being able to eat and vomitting up basically nothing is no joke. Even food commercials on TV I had to turn from because they totally turned me off, so I basically kept the TV off...nothing but food commercials LOL No wonder folks are struggling with their weight! LOL
I had other blessings however, like no pain, (until I vomitted), barum swallow test came out excellent, no leaks; and minimum gas pains. If it hadnt been for the nausea and incisions, I would have sworn I did not have surgery! LOL I am glad to be at my parents recouperating and relaxing. I am trying to get Jello down, liquids but that part is difficult...but I stay on it. I took a brief walk out today with my sister. I am feeling alot better and on a full road to recovery. Thank you all again and luv, LOVE! GOD BLESS!!

Sent my skinny mini sister a text this morning saying "I'm so excited to say I'm down to 399 (what a hideous number to be excited about)..." she was so sweet and encouraging, I truly love her! But this was the first real lb lost in a few weeks. I've been pretty depressed about the scale the past couple of days, cranky even! I know the NSVs are there but I'm still just not feeling it.
An a different note the Texas heat has been kind the past couple of days and I've gotten some good walking in... Woot!
Everyone loves a picture and this is my current NSV... I feel like I need to point out the boob to lumpy tummy ratio... But my family was able to see with out my description

Try it with sliced cucumber. I had that this past weekend and it was really good and added a little crunch (like a cracker).

I add a chopped boiled egg with a little relish, salt, pepper and two tablespoon of mayo (The low fat kraft mayo with olive oil). I then make lettuce wraps just drop the tuna mix/flatten it in the middle of my lettuce and roll it twice. Yummy, yummy, yummy.

I don't have any advice but I feel that if the surgeon is saying he doesn't know what to do, then he needs to call a colleague who is more advanced to see what can be done.
    I hope you get better.

Had my band out Aug 9th the recovery is about the same , just less has pain for me. So happy made that decision , every fill , I was either too tight where could not eat or end up getting stuck to the place where I was in the ER. This was the best decision I made . You will not regret it!

I am also having my band removed in Sept. I have had my band since June of 2011 and had some success, but due to lots of swelling, vomiting and "stuck" episodes my surgeon wants it out. Time for another route. Liquid diet starts in 2 weeks!

I asked my doc about it and he said only about 10% of people experience it. I hope that's true. Right now, my hair is the ONLY part of me I like! Also, I take Biotin now for my nails, which were thin and weak due to years of acrylics. It really helps!

mschina415 reacted to Shayyt in What Should I Expect When The Band Is Removed?
    Hi Teresa!
I just had my band removed and the sleeve done Monday and I can say I was expecting a rough recovery but so far it hasn't been. When I had my band surgery I felt like there was a sumo wrestler sitting on my chest for a few days no matter how much I walked or took gas x. That hasn't been the case with this. The worst part of this so far has been the 24hrs after when you can't drink ANYTHING (Damp wash cloth to wipe your mouth out will be your best friend) and I have a pain on my left side that the nurse is telling me is common as that is the side where they do the most work.
Hope this helps and good luck to you.

mschina415 reacted to Wheetsin in Recovery Room Pain Level?
Oh, below about 4 - maybe 5 - I won't ask for much in the way of painkiller. They'll ask you what level of pain is acceptable, or some version of, "At what number should we give you something?" I can remember laying there after sleeve surgery, telling her I was a 6 and wanted "a little something." She told me not to be brave - I told her I wasn't, I just had realistic expectations and knew that pain was part of the agreement. I think my exact words were something like, "I don't go out in the winter and expect to stay warm, getting cold is part of the deal." I think she appreciated my... reality check.
The lady next to me was MOANING and CRYING like you wouldn't believe. They asked her to rate her pain and she told them "2". The nurse was like, "Then what's acceptable to you?" and the lady snapped, "NOTHING! Zero!" The nurse was like, "Hon, be realisitc. You just got cut open. This other lady (me) next to you got cut open 6 times and she's doing just fine..." That did not go over well.
