Lap Band Revision

I was originally banded on 11/1/11. I dropped about 30 pounds, but then didn't feel any restriction. After at least 6 visits with my surgeon that I was having stomach pains and was gaining weight, he realized there was a leak in my port. Since I was already unhappy with his office staff, and I was moving cross country in a few months, I decided to put a revision surgery off.

Five months after discovering the leak, I finally had a new surgeon in my area and got a new port put in on 11/13/12, a little over a year after my initial surgery date, weighing what I did pre-initial surgery. The new doctor has me on a VERY strict diet and regimen, and it seems to be working.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation to this? I'm wondering if there is anything I can do pertaining to my additional surgery. Could it be a manufacturer defect, or something I did. And I would love some tips or advice from anyone who's gone through anything similar.
