Oh jeez! ? Life right now could have not been further off track for me. Here is the sum of all that's happened in a week!
1. I lost my 2-year Marketing Specialist job here in Dubai, United Arab Emirates - my role due to COVID is REDUNDANT and no longer required as APPRENTLY they don't have enough $$$ - but i know the whole story at the back end and who said what and all the politics.
2. I was on a weight-loss stall which FINALLY got over but then ^^^ that happened
3. I started feeling sick especially because i started vomiting up at least once a day
4. WHICH LED TO ME GETTING COVID 19 because HEY! us bariatric pals don't have a good immune system!
So post op almost 2 months and IM SUPER SICK! i have Asthma as well. I have alllll the covid symptoms you can think of and I'm isolated in my home.
Thankfully all my close contacts are fine but MAN O MAN does covid suck more when u CAN'T EAT ANYTHING! All I want is a big ass burger and a milkshake or SOME SORT OF SAVORY food item but i can't even keep down protein let alone SOUP! It's been horrible - my nutritionist said i should just try to EAT or DRINK whatever i can at this moment. But
BUT! there is a brighter yet a little worrying side. Ive lost about 3kgs! in 3 days. (sorta happy in a selfish way) but i have such a strong feeling ill gain it back as soon as I'm covid free.
but hey! 1.5 months and I've lost nearly 20 kgs! WOOT WOOT! haha.. trying to not die between these 4 walls so I'm trying to look at the brighter side. However every inch of my body hurts as i cough up a storm.
Is anyone in a situation like me? I hope not but if u are - let's relate?
Btw i posted an image here pre-op in my first post ever id like to post it again next to a recent one -> could use the motivation to stay breathing
1. Me at 130kgs 2. Me at 116 kgs same dress
3. Me at 113kg

HI Everyone
New to this But so glad I found it because I’m all alone on this road. I lost 10 Lbs pre-op and I’m at 8 weeks since surgery, phase 5 on the food plan. I’ve lost 55 lbs total up to now but I’m just moving from 2 oz to 3 oz of food 3X a day so let’s see how it affects it.

I lost 17 lbs during Preop, and 60lbs since surgery 99 days ago. So since starting Preop on October 27th I have lost 77 lbs.
Started Preop at 260 and am down to 183 today. It is amazing how quickly it goes. My wife also had the sleeve on 11/11 and she is down 66 lbs so far since starting pre-op.

HeyArnold reacted to kellym1220 in 50 Pounds GoneI am so happy today! 50 pounds gone! It has taken 3.5 months, which is longer than I thought it would take, but it's 50 pounds gone which is more than I've ever lost before regaining! I lost 25 pounds the first month and have been averaging 10 pounds for the last 2.5. I had to resign myself to NOT getting to goal by the holidays, but I have felt amazing, never deprived and my skin and hair look great! Slow and steady wins the race!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

So, I haven't really told many people about my surgery. A few close friends know, my mom, and my sister. I tell my mom everything so she knows, but out of my few close friends, only one was really supportive--everyone else was a bit hesitant. They all struggle with their weight, including my sister. So I don't like sharing my victories as they all start feeling bad about themselves. But today was huge and I want to share with someone other than my amazing and supportive mom. I laid down today to do sit-ups and I could actually see and feel my ribs starting to show through. I thought it was too good to be true so I videoed myself and lo and behold, I could see them quite prominently. I haven't seen them since 2015/2016. I am so excited! I can't see them standing up, obviously, but man was it a surprise laying down. Just really happy! I also tried on a shirt that was too tight before and now it is baggy.
Anyway, that was my NSV. Thanks for listening!

HeyArnold reacted to catwoman7 in Protein & Vitaminsmy clinic recommended Flintstones Complete, but I wanted to do Centrum instead (they said those were fine, too). With either choice, you had to take two a day.

HeyArnold reacted to billho in A few milestones this weekNow that I'm down 52 lbs (halfway to my goal), I'm not going back to my former fat self. I cleaned out my closet last night and got rid of about 15 suits and a bunch of other things. Because I have been on a roller coaster ride most of my adult life, I still have plenty of clothes to wear and have probably another 20-30 lbs to go before I need to go shopping. But it was very therapeutic to be able to say goodbye to the fat clothes.
I'm kind of in a stall (only lost 1.2 lbs. this week) at the moment, though I am slowly going down the scale. I think it is time to kick up the exercise a bit.

HeyArnold reacted to billho in A few milestones this weekI thought I'd log in with a few updates today. I started this process back on July 31st with a high weight of 284. I lost 34 lbs before surgery on Sept. 21st and weighed in at 233.2 this morning. The two big milestones are that I passed 50 lbs lost and I am now a BMI of 34, which means I'm only "obese" instead of "morbidly obese". I have a long way to go to my 180 target, but I am happy about the progress so far.

HeyArnold reacted to JustMe1313 in Week 2 Tips13 days out from my surgery, have had ups and downs with the biggest challenge be 1) energy and 2) hunger at the end of the day. I've fixed the hunger by making sure I'm sticking to high protein liquids. Here are some tips and tricks I've learned to help me keep moving forward:
Food tips:
Perfect treat: Pre-mixed Premier Protein, Vanilla. Warm in microwave then sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Such a treat, and fulfilling!
Making sure to get my protein drinks in late in the day so I don't have that late night hunger.
I've been using Gatorade Zero to fill in between meals, since plain water is hard on my stomach.
I tried a recipe from a cookbook, but it really grossed me out - using plain greek yogurt, mixing it up with my chocolate whey protein. Gagged! That memory has kept me going on liquids alone.
Use bone broth as a meal, adding my own salt and spices, nice an warm, and comforting.
Exercise Tips:
Set little goals, and then if you can keep going, keep going. If you need to take a break in between, take a small break.
Listen to your body, and if you need to rest, or take a break in between, do it!
For me, I started with walking laps around my pool / patio at night, and use my FitBit to keep me motivated. One day I had 10 laps, then I challenged myself to do 5 more, then 5 more, etc. Started at 5,000 steps then challenged myself each day until I got up to 12,000. However, if I didn't have the energy, I listened to my body and didn't push it.
After I was comfortable walking, I started on my Bowflex Max 5 - not at the interval training level, but just at my own pace. First days were hard. I skipped two days, but then hopped up on it again and found I was able to go several additional minutes without needing a break. Just like any exercise, keep your water or Gatorade Zero or other non-calorie hydration close by, small sips are all you need.
Setbacks:
Some days the hunger was really strong - I found myself tasting Kosher salt & spices in between meals, which kicked any feelings of being deprived to the curb. (I don't know if this is allowed, or healthy - but just a taste did the trick). I've gotten over those cravings from the first week.
After losing 12 pounds the first week, I stalled for about 2 days. I was discouraged, but kept moving and the weight loss kicked in quickly. I am now down 16 pounds since 12 days since my surgery.
Keeping my energy levels high enough to put in the walking and/or Bowflex. I have to push myself at times, but I do it and feel better after knowing that I am increasing my metabolism and strength with each cycle. I also let myself rest when I need.
Hope sharing this helps as you approach your post-surgery healing and journey.

HeyArnold reacted to Neensyb in How to lift child post op, single momIf he can climb in the car, could he perhaps climb onto the seat in the car, then into his car seat? Can you make a game of it? Maybe hold your belly with one forearm, and hold his hand with the other?
I wish you all the best, single parents are super mom's/ dad's.....x

HeyArnold reacted to Momma DeeDee in February 2021 Sleeve SurgeryI just had the ESG surgery on Jan 21, today is day 3 post op and doing well. What I wasn't aware of is the lack of wanting sweets so soon. My sugar free protein water, popsicle and jello doesn't appeal to me now. I am loving my clear broth so much more. I am thankful that my plans to do and schedule went quicker than I thought..called Georgia Surgicare, referred to lung specialist due to asthma and cardiac specialist for hypertension, labs and from Dec 31, 2020 - date of surgery Jan 21st was smooth sailing. I had wanted help for years but husband was against it so I did everything until week before without his knowledge. My daughter drove me and stayed in hotel the 3 days before we went home. The worst part of the experience is the nausea and headaches from dehydration which stopped on Saturday. Gods best to all of you on your journey and those waiting to begin. I believe this will be one of the best decisions for me that I have made since accepting Jesus as my Lord and savior. By the way my husband flipped his prior thoughts and has been here to help if needed but I didn't need it so good job for me! My nurse Arianna and me ?

HeyArnold reacted to Tb613 in How to lift child post op, single momI lifted my daughter from day 5 on. She's 4 and 36pds. She was able to climb up on the car and climb up in her carseat but it took for ever... I'm impatient so I just did it.

HeyArnold reacted to stayklassie in Can I see some before and after pics?HW on the left; 5lbs to my goal weight on the right. A little over a year for this transformation. Will never go back! So thankful!!

HeyArnold reacted to Lilfootie in Can I see some before and after pics?I am only 3mo post op and I saw the difference in my progress photos today and wanted to share - just my belly - I think it is 1 week post op vs 3 months. I am a slow loser, or more of a staller dropper (I have had a stall of at least 14 days all three months lol) so taking photos really helps me!
