Leia reacted to Ninjamom2019 in Not going to be Popular...Hi Leia
It is easy to make your own non carbonated kombucha. If you are in Houston PM me and I will be happy to give you a "kombucha mother". What gives kombucha its fizz is the second fermentation. Just like with soda if you leave it open it will lose its fizz.
Kombucha on friend!

Leia reacted to jg7979 in Not going to be Popular...Isopure has a natural line of powders that use cane sugar--and a surprisingly small amount per serving. 25g of protein and 3g sugar. Mixed into water or skim milk it 1000x better than a premade shake--no thickness or off taste (other than one would expect from whey isolate).

The pictures on top were taken today at 193 lbs, I'm 5'9, so it may still seem high but I'm thrilled. Once I get to 175, I'm officially at my goal. I'm sure I have at least 10 lbs of excess skin thatll eventually be removed...but no rush. The pics below were 2 months preop (so around August 2018 and I weighed somewhere near 300lbs).
In 6 months , I'm down over 100lbs and feeling fabulous. Struggling with the excess skin on my belly and inner thighs. Any spanx or waist trainer recommendations to conceal the pooch Lol!
Hope everyone is happy and would love to see updates on my fellow October sleevers and how everyone is doing in general! Xoxo!

Leia reacted to sntn33 in I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)Here’s me. Sorry for the shirtless pics but I think it helps show my luck with scars and loose skin.
Starting Weight: 268lb
Surgery Date: 10/30/17
Surgery Weight: 250lbs
Goal Weight: 180lbs
Current Weight: 144lbs
For the most part, I loosely stick to my food plan. I do venture outside of it often but I workout 6-10 hours a week, so it balances out.
I’m so glad I made this life changing decision! I love my new body and all of my health problems have gone away!
PS thank you Kaiser!

Leia reacted to BeanieSprouts in Huge influx of random flirtingI've noticed this too, unfortunately not any welcome attention. :c Mostly just men sending me pictures of their genitalia on Facebook, to which I reply with pictures of hot dogs being sliced up.

Leia reacted to Medowsweet in SwimmingHas losing 100lbs effected your swimming in any way?
I ADORE swimming and have since I was about 5 years old! Not just swimming but "playing in the water", hand stands and flips and kicking off the wall to fly like Superman, and floating, and diving after a giant beach ball, and doing water yoga.... Pretty much if it involves being in the water (hot or cold) I love it!
So here is my question: did losing weight effect your swimming in anyway?
Were you cold? Were you embarrassed by your loose skin? Did the difference in bouancy cause you to need to change technique? Anything about swimming (other then no swimming for a few weeks right after (major BOO!!!!)?

Leia got a reaction from clsumrall in RECOVERY IS MORE COMPLICATED THAN I THOUGHT!I'm just over 2 months post op.
Mostly its been like what I expected. I'm losing weight pretty quickly. Over 40 pounds since surgery, and over 60 since my highest weight.
The unexpected part has been the gas. It still hasn't gone away, I wake up and am feeling 'belchy' and gross before I've even eaten anything. Almost everything I eat or drink (including water) seems to cause more of it too. Its humiliating if I'm in public (though I keep them quiet/silent as possible) and in generally I just feel pretty icky.
Bone broth and yogurt seem to help, and my surgeon doesn't seem concerned, but its driving me crazy.
Still, I'd do it again! I have way more energy than I used to already and I'm excited for the future (hopefully one with less burbling and bubbles).

Leia got a reaction from Beck53 in Fat ShamingThis stuff makes me furious. I've spoken up in the past when people make those sorts of comments to me or in my hearing (usually online, where they don't know my own struggles and body type) but sometimes in person too. In situations where they've decided I'm one of the "good ones" because they know me, they see me trying. Where as they see any one that is larger and, heaven forbid, looks happy, and they assume that person is too happy, too comfortable, and that makes them uncomfortable. Not that they want to see the strangers trying either, half of the the time it seems these comments are about an obese person eating a salad, or at the gym. They want us to change, but out of sight so they dont have to see it.
I usually try to explain that they dont understand all the science, that its more complicated then they think, that they cant make assumptions about people like that. Sometimes I even try to explain skinny privilege. It never works. They dont want to change their minds, so they dont.
Mean while I've gotten more and more angry and sick of it.
I think as it is an issue at work for you, talking to HR might be the best move...if you trust your HR person/people to not be part of the problem... And depending on the situation calling your co-workers out would probably at least make you feel guilt free. Something as simple as "That you'd talk about ____ like this is really disappointing." It might not endear you to them, but with people who are that casually nasty? No big loss.

Leia got a reaction from llhill in Unsupportive partners make me so angry!WOW! Yeah, talk about a betrayal of trust. Ouch! You are one Strong amazing person for sticking up for your self with that sh*t storm raining down on you. I'm sorry you're having to withstand it!
Keep your chin up, you have a bunch of us 'bariatric Pal's' on here, rooting for you. You have the science on your side, and an awesome journey ahead of you.

Leia reacted to summerset in Fat ShamingDon't even try. Usually people start to whine about how hard their life is the second you mention skinny priviledge to prove that it doesn't exist (which is only proof that they don't understand what skinny privilege is about).

Leia reacted to llhill in Unsupportive partners make me so angry!Yeah so let me not get started with my husband and mom. My husband actually called my parents and they in turn called my siblings and everyone is blasting me for doing this. The entire family is blasting me. My husband said, "If your whole family is telling you not to do this then you shouldn't be doing this you should listen to your family." I told him he totally betrayed my trust and if I wanted my family to know I would have told them. It's a bad situation right now. My mom had a friend who got the surgery a LONG time ago, I mean ages along with her daughter. They both passed away and my mom associates that with the surgery. First and foremost, my mom doesn't even know what surgery they had but she's telling me that is the reason why I shouldn't do this. It's been really really emotional for me. My sister then called and asked me if I was doing this for my husband. It's all crazy town I tell you as if I can't soley make this decision for myself. I am glad for folks like you. We have to hold each other up and be supportive with each other. It's all I have right now. Also, keep your head up, your boyfriend is losing out.

Leia reacted to mousecat88 in Unsupportive partners make me so angry!I start my pre-op tomorrow. I recently broke up with my bf (like 3 weeks ago recently) of nearly 5 years for, well, many reasons, but one being that he started being an a-s and finally told me it was because he thought I'd leave him after I lost weight. My only other "support" is my mom, who is going to be there for the surgery, but she is completely against me having it. She considers it elective and tells me I am mutilating myself. SO, I am relying on basically just this forum as my real support system. We can do it all by ourselves! It's for us, ultimately, and no one else has any say.

Leia reacted to llhill in Unsupportive partners make me so angry! My husband does not support me at all. It's very frustrating. I am very emotional about that fact that he continues to tell me every day (since a week ago) that I am not going to have the surgery even though it's in 10 days and I've already paid money for my surgery date slot. Every day my response to him is that I am going to do it. One thing I know is that I am ready for it even though it's risky, but I'm more sad that I don't have support. I'm not scared because the numerous success stories I've read so far keeps me excited for my future weight loss. But then I get sad again because I'm going to have the surgery alone. I'm sure I'll find surgery buddies to talk to and bond with.
