  1. I had my surgery with Dr. Teng... they told me fills were covered for 1 yr... and now they are telling me i have to pay an OV... so basically i was lied to and the fills are $110.... so sad... after 18,000.... they pull this!!
  2. Ya i was told FREE Fills for 1 yr.. and after 3 months i went in for fill $2 and they wanted my "co-pay" so they arent free after all... and it sucks cuz now i have no ins... so im gonna have to pay for the OV... sad that you pay almost 18,000 for surgery to be lied to.... Dr. Tengs office in Las Vegas NV... i love him but hate all the lies i was told!!
  3. Im going through what alot of you are going through too... i had my 2nd fill Oct 22nd... a lil over 1 week ago... and for the first time i do feel restriction but i almost feel like its too much... i can totally drink liquids with no problem but food keeps getting stuck... i keep blaming myself that im not eating slow enough or chewing enough... and i hope it is just me cuz i dont want an unfill... but i am finding myself sticking to mostly soup so i dont PB... im just so glad my stomach isnt growling 24-7 like it was up til this fill... and i have lost like 8 pnds since the fill...
  4. I had my lapband 6 weeks after having a c-section with my first son... i actually had no problems getting preggo... got preggo the 1st month trying... but i did use a fertility monitor thinking it might take a while due to my weight and thyroid... congrats to you! I love my lapband and you owe it to your lil ones to be thin and full of energy! My lil man is now 5 months and i cant wait to be the thin active mom i should be! My sleep apnea is killing me and i cant wait for it to be gone!!! Im down 30 pnds since my surgery and 55 since i had my baby May 29th!! Good Luck!!:w00t:
  5. I noticed some doctors want you on liquids for a few days then mushies... so thats why i was gonna see how things feel in 1 week... but like i said i had no restricion prior to this fill... i didnt have to eat slow or take small bites... so this might me my error... my hubby was eating pizza and i took a few pieces of meat off his pizza and ate it and i was fine cuz they were small pieces... so im thinking maybe my idea of small bites and chewing well is wrong...Im happy im feeling restriction... ever since my surgery my stomach growls non stop and that has finally gone away... so i dont wanna go backwards if i dont have to... if i was getting sick from all this i would be worried... but i have been ok... i have just felt pressure in my chest and im trying to figure out why... and im confused about the "full" feeling... thanks for any imput... im not overeating... cuz im barely eating right now... and sometimes i get the pressure in my chest from 1 bite of something...
  6. I had my 2nd fill on wed... Oct 22... I am having a hard time eating real food... this is the first time i have ever felt any restriction since i was banded on July 18th so im a lil confused about how im feeling... I forgot what it feels like to feel "full"... and when you are "full" with the lapband is it a different feeling then without the band? I cant tell if im "full" or if something is stuck... Yesterday i ate 1/2 cup of lobster bisque and i felt a feeling in my chest but im not sure if one of the lil lobsters was stuck or if that was the "full" feeling... Is it normal this many days out to have a problem with regular food?? I dont wanna call my doctor cuz im ok with liquids and with soups and cottage cheese... but food i have to chew im not ok with... but im not sure if my idea of small bites isnt small enough??? Should i be taking micro bites and going from there??? Sorry for all the questions im just a confused! !! Help!! Thanks!!
  7. My doctor has had me on prescription anti heart burn meds since day 1... are you taking anything for heartburn??
  8. They wouldnt let me leave without someone... but i was so messed up on drugs when i left there is no way i could of even told a cab driver how to get home... i dont even recall the whole next day i was on so much demoral and morphine...
  9. Hi!! Im also from Vegas... I was banded in July and im also losing slowly... but im losing!! Dr. Teng was my DR... who is doing your surgery??
  10. I just got done emailing my doctors office because im in the same boat... i had a fill 2 weeks ago and i no less hungry... my stomach starts to growl about 2.5 hrs after i eat... Im not due to see the Dr again til Oct 22nd so im a little worried since i have gained 2 pnds since my last fill... I dont wanna rush the process if it will mess things up... but im so tired of being hungry... i know i have lost 24 pnds... but most of that was in the first 2 weeks....
  11. I had my first fill 1 week ago and i felt like Jodi felt with her 2nd fill.... if i eat too fast.... i feel the food go up and down for like 1 min.... im learning tho! I measure my food and i eat 4 oz's a meal.... i notice im hungry a little less often now...
  12. Ok so why am i only on 500-600 calories??? Im almost 8 weeks post op...
  13. IM 5 weeks post op and i still get shoulder pain
  14. Ya sometimes you cant be honest... i used meth ALOT when i was younger to get thin... shoot i know sooooooooo many girls who did... I was honest with all the questions dealing with food... but i dont think they need to know about your drug use in the past... not for the Lap Band... I paid cash for my procedure.... $18,000... if i thought that my drinking or past drug use was a problem why would i waste all that money!!!! I would find another doctor.... BTW they also told me i was depressed... but like you said... who really isnt????? I had just had a baby 4 weeks prior to my psych eval so he said it was because the hormones... But i cry at the drop of a dime the min someone asks me about my weight.... I always have....
  15. I was only able to wear a gown... nothing under... and YES i did have a catheter....
  16. They told me to not eat more then 1/2 a cup per meal... Im also on mushies and have no liquid in my band... I am far from "full".... but it does something cuz i dont feel hungry for like 4 hrs after....
  17. I had my surgery on July 18th... i also have never felt any restriction at all... and worry that my band has slipped.... plus i was told a week ago by my dietitian... to NEVER eat more then 1/2 a cup or it will stretch my pouch... so thats what i have been doing... i dont feel anywhere close to full off 1/2 a cup... but my stomach dont growl again after for about 4 hrs...
  18. I was told to not eat more then 1/2 cup of mushies... or it will stretch my pouch.... im like 21 days post op...
  19. Im 20 days post op... and when we leave posts about being hungry or not losing weight... it reallly dont mean we arent happy with the band... we are just impatient! I love my band... i cant wait to get a fill.... and the liquid phase after banding was really hard... but we know we had to do it so the band would heal.... but i would NEVER say i was unhappy with my band... i paid $18,000 for my surgery... and i have lost 17 pnds so far.... im REALLY happy!! This is where we come to vent or get imput... but like the others have said... i dont think anyone is truely unhappy with the band
  20. Between people wanting coffee in the morning and wine at night... they feel like you arent gonna drink enough water... Since we cant drink water for 30 mins prior to each meal and 1 hr after each meal... and thats 3 times a day... thats like 6-8 hrs a day you cant drink water.. so when you throw coffee or wine in the mix.... you are getting alot less water then they want you having... And of course the diuretic part...
  21. Im about 20 days post op...and on the pureed food stage too... I sometimes gain 2 pnds and it will stay that way for like 3 days... then i will lose 4.... Im noticing that my teeth are a better blender then the blender... I bought a "magic bullet" for this stage... but i go to blend what im eating and it just flys and sticks to the sides... its just not enough food to blend at 1 time... and i dont wanna blend a weeks worth of food... so im having no luck with the blending... im just sticking to really soft foods like cottage cheese, tuna, egg beaters, refried breans, yogurt, pudding.... and chewing REALLY well!
  22. Ya im not even worried about the weightloss at this point... i am losing weight... Im asking about how much i should be eating cuz i dont want to be doing anything to damange my pouch... i paid $18,000 for my surgery... I dont eat bread or carbonation either because i was told not to... My main concern is that im not eating too much... I dont want to make my band slip... I havent felt "full" since before surgery...
  23. Im 19 days post op and im on pureed food... i feel like i can eat a cup or more of food til i feel full.... should i be eating less or waiting to feel satisfied? My dietitian told me this "Since the size of the pouch created by the band is initially 1/8-1/4 of a cup and then only progresses to 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup, this limits calories to about 500-600 per day during the Pureed diet (Step III) and 750-900 Calories per day during the Soft diet (Step IV). I am actually amazed that patient's can eat this much, considering the volume an average 250 Calorie meal takes" There is no way i would be satisfied off 1/8-1/4 of a cup... I thought right now i would be able to eat more since i havent had any fills yet... and later i would eat less... but according to him that isnt true??? :confused2: I dont wanna strech my pouch!!
  24. My surgery was an overnight stay... and i was soooooo glad it was... i was on demoral and morphine for 24 hrs b4 i went home... I feel for you guys tho cuz my gallbladder removal was outpatient...
  25. They gave me a little breathing gadget... i had to suck in and get 3 little balls to move when i did that... and was told to do it 1 time every hour...they even sent me home with it... I hope you feel better soon... just know its important to keep taking deep breaths!
